“Manageable size”

So many museums are overwhelming and you don't get to see everything -- not so with this museum. There were two exhibits -- the permanent and a temporary one looking at the relationship between Krakow and Isreal/Zionism. Both exhibits are photographs only with brief descriptions. I enjoyed the permanent collection more as it dealt with a period of time and a region and the losses it experienced during WWII.
Price of entry was about 15 local currency ($5 Canadian).
From the museum, we walked to the nearby synagogues.
The gift shop has a very comprehensive collection of books on the Holocaust.

“meaningful and beautiful”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

I found this museum to be one of the best curated collections I have ever seen. The writing (or at least the writing in English) told stories and asked questions. For instance, the photograph of the Jewish Music Festival held annually in Krakow remarked that it was a festival developed by non-Jews of music that is not performed in Poland for primarily non-Jews, and asked what that sort of recreation of Jewish life meant for Poland. There weren't answers- and that's important, because the destruction of the Jewish communities of Poland doesn't have answers. Since I wasn't going to visit the locations that were exhibited of former Jewish communities, this was my only opportunity to see what's left of the lives or the deaths of millions. The photography was exceptional.
