Owner description: The Galicia Jewish Museum exists to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and to celebrate the Jewish culture of Polish Galicia, presenting Jewish history from a new perspective.

Right on the edge of Kazimierz, the Galicia Museum contains a beautiful gallery full of photographs of the Jewish past and present in Galicia - from places like Auschwitz to small Polish towns with ancient synagogues. The photos depict the ruins of Jewish life and are sometimes very sad while still being beautiful.
The Museum has one of the best bookshops in Krakow for Jewish and holocaust-related books, as well as a nice coffeeshop, so you can drink and peruse.
It's a great place to take a break from all the touring. Highly recommended.

The museum was right near where we were staying. It was very interesting. We saw what went on before, during and after the holocaust. Many pictures and informative history of the Jewish people in the war years.

Nice informative museum in Krakow. Small bits of information make it understandable with photos and pictures. The information and stories here are local to Krakow and the Galicia region. The bookstore at the end was fantastic with a wide variety of Jewish/Holocaust related books for reasonable prices, I spent quite a bit here and didn't regret it! It is also local to other interesting sites such as the Pharmacy Under The Eagle, Schindler's Factory ect.

I've visited 3 times and if you want to learn more about the history of Jewish Galicia then head here. You can either join an official guide or just wander around on your own like I do. Great displays and, if you have time, a large audio library. Lovely café and book store. Great place to spend a couple of hours and pick up some great book. Be warned - I ended up buying so many books I had to pay £30 excess baggage on the flight home!
