Excellent location just across the river. Short walking distance to the jewish quarters, the Wavel castle and cathedral, the old town as well as the Kazimers Galleria. Very nice pool and sauna area with a wonderful ceiling shower (6th floor). Fantastic breakfast as most comment, but dinner was merely mediocre. Ate in cause of rain, but only the first night. Service was ok, but too laid back. Good tourist service in the gift shop. Room was great, clean and modern. Ask for a view of the river if available! Very nice from 7th floor. Jewish festival was a blast as well as Krakow Night life in the old town area. Two large gallerias, and great Spa at Farmona Hotel. Salt mines is a must on a cloudy day! Enjoy your stay - we did!

just returned from a 5 night stay in krakow and thought it was brilliant,
we stayed in the qubus hotel which couldnt be faulted, the staff, the rooms, even the pool, first class and what a breakfast.
that the qubus is a 15 min walk to the old town sq is no problem , just means you get to see more of the city than might other wise if staying in the centre, also just over the river from the old jewish quarter where the old slaughter house is now home to the best toasted baguettes that cost just a few zlotys.
though krakow was the old capital its the recent history that leaves its mark, visit the getto with its` chemist 'museum
and memorial square , the gestapo cells and its adjacent museum, and of course Auschwitz., guided tours to Auschwitz cost around 100 zlotys each, we made our own way there, going by train with the total cost including a couple of short taxis rides being just over 80z between us.
a visit to the salt mines are a must as is the 4 hour bike tour.
we made a point of eating the local dishes and found the food to be very good with the Aperitif resturant being excellent , a 2 course meal with a bottle of wine and coffees and other drinks being just over £40,
compared to the euro zone you get alot more for your £ and a 5 day stay without missing out on anything doesnt do to much damage to your CC

Went to Krakow to celebrate my 40th with my wife and two friends. Had been to Krakow before. Hotel was very modern, clean, friendly english speaking staff. Breakfast is superb and caters for all needs.Lovely little swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna, steam room that overlooks the river and the city. Try and ask for a room on the river side as the view is gorgeous.Hotel is only two minutes from the tram(No.13 goes to centre every 20 mins), a 3 day pass costs £5. No complaints of the hotel whatsoever.Make sure you have a free trip on the Hotel boat from the hotel to the castle region(15 mins).

The 4-star Qubus Hotel Krakow is a fantastic place to call home when visiting Poland’s dearly beloved and famous medieval town of Cracowia. This new, modern 7-storey luxury hotel deserves every one of its four star status if not more!

With its penthouse level, glass-enclosed pool overlooking the Vistula River, Kasimierz and the Old Town (in the distance), Qubus boasts excellent cuisine, hearty breakfasts, friendly and superior customer service, and comfortable rooms with outstanding views made more possible by floor-to-ceiling plate glass window!

Complete with mini-fridge, lots of closet space, bath and shower washrooms, and complimentary in-room internet service, accommodation is made even better by great front desk service, a comfortable bar/lounge area, a good hair salon and souvenir shop, an excellent buffet and a la carte dining room, an outdoor patio (subject to weather/season) and on weekends, a free jazz bar and lounge. Prices are reasonable and reliable taxi service and tours can easily be arranged by hotel staff like Tomacz who knows no bounds in helping you with your every need and making you feel at home!

Situated across the river from the popular Kasimierz area of Cracow, the hotel is served by a nearby frequent tram service to the Old Town area although a taxi usually comes in at a reasonable 25 zloty (~$8.85 Cdn.). In the vicinity, one can take in the former 1940's Nazi Jewish ghetto area of Podgorze, which today is very alive and vibrant with ongoing redevelopment yet still true to its historic past that features the famous Schindler’s factory, its adjacent Rubenstein Square as well as various war-time related Jewish museums, synagogues, and so on. Also not far, is the historic Wawel Castle, a must see that is a mere 15 minute walk alongside the Vistula River walkway just outside the hotel.

Contrasting the stark former Nazi prison that still stands today (~ 5 min. walk from the hotel) and the remains of the old ghetto wall and ‘Heroes Square,’ are other places like:

* The flower-filled Podgorze Rynek (Square) with its majestic church;
* An increasing number of pleasant dining establishments, and most notably Drunkania, a smart and relaxing bar with outdoor tables adjacent to the Vistula River that occasionally hosts live jazz and klezmer music among an eye-pleasing, colourful streetscape of refurbished old, and no doubt, historic buildings;

......just to name a few places.

Finally, if the food and service at the Qubus Hotel doesn’t keep you from venturing out on a daily basis for dinner at the marvellous Old Town of Cracow, the sauna, gym, and swimming pool facilities (open til 10 PM) most likely will!

All in all, if you haven’t been to Cracow, you should go...it’s colourful, lively, very cultural and historic...and if being a little out of the way isn’t a problem...you can’t go wrong with Krakow’s very guest friendly, Qubus hotel.

The Qubus is a modern hotel located on the Wistula with very good staff. We asked for a room overlooking the river and luckily they had one. The room was very comfortable and clean.

The selection of food and drink at breakfast is fantastic; just read the other reviews on TA to get an idea of what to expect. Can only think of one thing to comment on; to get hot water out of the coffee machine you need to press the Stop button. Not the obvious choice for me!

The prices at the hotel were surprisingly reasonlable and we had a few drinks there after coming back one evening.

Before going on I must apologise to the hotel (and people of Krakow). The English are not all drunken louts. It was embarrassing seeing them going around the town and making a nuisance of themselves in bars. The locals are much too tolerant although in one bar they told them to stop as they were getting out of hand.

Right, back to the review. Make sure you take a copy of the free “Krakow in your pocket’ guide from hotel reception. It was much better than any of the guide books we had bought in the UK.

Getting to the centre of Krakow from the hotel takes about 15 minutes, and that is walking quite slowly. Taxis are cheap and efficient if you don’t fancy walking.

English was spoken in the bars and restaurants we went to.

A few recommendations:

FOOD

Chlopskie Jadlo (Peasant kitchen). We went to the one on Grodza Road just off the main square. Best not to think of the amount of calories – just enjoy the food.

Sazara – on the main square.

CAFÉ

Cafe Camelot – near to the main square. All the food we had was good, the apple pie seemed to be the favourite.

DRINK

Singer – in Kazimierz. Good atmosphere.

Wodka – near to the main square. Let the barman pick the vodkas for you.

Liked what we saw on TA so we booked it and were not dissappointed. Comfy rooms overlooking river Wistula. Flat screen TV and PC with internet access which although not very fast allowed us to keep up to date with news and weather. Beds were so comfortable!
We chose Qubus for its location as we had hired a car and wanted to visit 1. Oswiecim (Auschwitz-Birkenau), 2. Zakopane and 3. Wieliczka salt mines as well as the Old town of Krakow.
Being at the southern side of the City made it the ideal location for joining tourist / main routes.
1. Route 44 was a very long journey in poor weather to do a supposed 70 min trip, it took us well over 2 hours with no over taking or dual carriageway.
2. Was a 2 hour trip we did in under that time on a new highway for more than half of the journey.
3. Was a 15 min ride and easy.

Qubus is 30 mins to Balice Airport and well signposted in both directions along Zakiopanska ( Main road in from Motorway around Krakow which links with Airport).

The breakfast, as described in previous reviews was brilliant, particularly the expresso/cava machine.
The Hotel boat was, we were told was out of action until 1st July so we drove into Old town square in evening as inclement weather prevented us doing the 25min walk too many times.

Krakow is a great place to see and do things. The polish food choices were brilliant and were not solely based around pork products as you might be led to believe.
Although the weather was heavy rain with liberal thunder and lighting interspersed with warm and fine weather it did not affect anything we intended to do or indeed did over 4 days.
Although car hire seems expensive if there are a group of you it is worth doing as entry, travel costs and language guides on conducted tours can mount up. We liked the freedom to come and go as we pleased.
Zakopane is worth visiting even though it attracts day trippers with all the market/shops that you would expect of a resort. It is in the beautiful Tatra mountains and the funicular railway and cable cars are worthy of a visit. If you are travelling from UK the prices of food, drinks, entrance fees etc. are some 30% less. Petrol at time of writing is marginally below UK with plentiful petrol stations that accept VISA. There are ATM's everywhere so travelling, paying and conversing (in cities at least) in English is easy. Try using some easy to learn Polish phrases/words which goes a long way.

The trip to Auschwitz is an unforgettable experience. I'll say no more.

This hotel is part of a Norwegian chain. Had to make a last minute hotel change from another place which was not as described. This place made up for our other accomodations. I arrived around 9:30 am and had just hoped to park my car and was warmly welcomed to check in early. The room was very clean (I booked a Junior Suite). Breakfast was the best I've ever had in Poland - and I have lived in Poland for 2 years!

English is spoken by all staff members I met. It's a business hotel, and they have organized tours to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines (if you don't have a car)
Some Jewish Ghetto sites are within 5 minutes walking distance (to include the only Pharmacy inside the Ghetto walls). At this same square, you can hop on a tram to go directly into the old town. We found some great restaurants 2 stops up - near the street Miodowa and near the a famous Jewish Cementary (Remuh)

They have a pool and sauna on the top floor - the skyline view from the pool is worth just going up the stairs. It's full-paned windows next to the river.

I'd recommend this location to all types of travellers and can't wait for their new hotel to open in Gdansk, Poland!
