“What an absolute gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2010

We came for a long weekend to visit the Xmas Market; it was also our first time in Poland. Cracowdays organised our taxi from the airport which worked a dream. He was the first person we saw after coming thru customs. He gave us very handy tourist guides en-route. As has been said earlier the outside of the accommodation is a bit drab; an old Krakow tenement. Once inside the stone stairway looks daunting but then you get into the actual accommodation - what a transformation. Bright, airy, warm and inviting. The STD accn is in the raised ground floor. Well appointed rooms with good quality en-suite, TV (only 1 english speaking CH) a digital safe, sofa and comfy bed. Communal kitchen area with free tea/coffee etc and a pay drinks fridge with wines and beers. Communal PC and free wifi. Main reception on 1st floor. Very welcoming young lady on reception who gave us free gea/coffee whilst explaining about the accn. Also introduced us to Cherry Vodka to keep out the cold. Wow. Delicious and more like a liquer. They provided a very useful map and a list of excellent restaurants that would also give 10% off if we showed our Cracowdays key fob. They were very happy to give advice on what to see, how to get there etc and book meals etc. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Lots to see and do in the city. We tried 4 restaurants that she advised and the food was outstanding, don't think that Polish food has to be stodgy! Price was extraordinary. Meal for 4 with wine (and preceded by cherry vodkas) ranged between £25 (best) to £16 (cheapest but in v smart restaurant on the town square). Town square is about 1/2 mile away so easily walkable or get the trams (50p/25 PZl). Finally the continental breakfasts are superb; cereal, bread, rolls, hama, cheeses, jams, fresh fruit, highness, and pastries. Fresh orange juice and freshly made tea/coffee. If I was coming back would I stay here again. ABSOLUTELY!!

They did a gorgeous job of renovating this hotel on two separate floors in a charming old building just a few blocks from the old town, but they stopped just short of furnishing it well enough to make it really comfortable which is a shame. A few additions and it could be terrific. It's on a very quiet side street so no night noise. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The modern renovation is lovely, they only have 12 rooms. There are two new kitchens, one on each floor and it was great to be able to make soup and simple breakfasts. They also have wine refrigerators with a decent selection which is very nice. The only problem was that the kitchen on our floor only had tiny plastic stools, not conducive to sitting for a meal, it would have been so much more comfortable to have regular chairs. Our room was very spacious, the bed comfortable and the new bathroom was great, but it was missing key furniture - a place to put your suitcase, a dresser, somewhere to hang coats (the closet is only about 14" wide for hanging), a shelf in the bathroom. As a result we ended up camping with clothes and "stuff" in piles on the floor which was very inconvenient and the maids couldn't clean. They were very welocming to our dogs. It was thoughtful of them to have a laptop at a desk on each floor for guests to use, but on our floor the welcome screen was Polish so I couldn't use it.

This is not a 5-star hotel, but more of a top of the line (for Poland) pension/B&B with Free WiFi. The staff all speak english, know the area and are focused in being as helpful as possible. The entrance is that of an older building, but the dodgy walk up stairs just add to the flavor. This is the sort of place that would have had a hard time existing prior to sites like Trip Advisor.

The neighborhood is 10 minutes walk out of the old town center. The trams stop is right up the street. (#4 #13) There is a Mille supermarket a block away, and restaraunts right across the street. A Pizza place and a place called the Green Kitchen. (Had a really good meal at the Green Kitchen.... great Borscht) I had a wonderful time in Krakow and look forward to going back.

I stayed here with four members of my family, mostly retired, Cracowdays is very clean, well located, priced very fairly and has some of the nicest hosts you will find in Europe. If you want to be an easy 10 minute stroll to downtown Krakow, and you want to have a place that feels like home, stay here. Don't worry about cabs, tours, restaurants and sightseeing. The hosts will be sure you are well informed and taken care of.

I though I would take the time to actually leave a review on a place I stayed for once. I have to say that I was REALLY happy with my stay here. Please don't expect it to be what you would expect to see from a fancy 5* hotel like the RITZ or anything, but if you can get past little things like a slightly dark entryway and pushing a button on the outside to get into the apartment complex I think you will really enjoy this place.

The person on the night shift was so friendly and he did a 1 on 1 tour of the kitchen, my apartment and some other things. There are so many locks, you really can not help but feel secure. They have free WiFi and although I did not use the TV I did notice a channel for HBO. On each floor they also have a computer with a printer in case you ever need it. I also really liked the wood oven pizza place across the street and ended up going twice which I normally hate to do on a vacation.

It is conveniently located near a tram stop (three stops from the train station) and I could easily walk in about 10 minutes to the main city center area or about 15 min to the market place.

The woman who worked the day shift was awesome, she served us a great breakfast (make note that it is an extra 25 ZL (~$6 US) above your room cost but they do point this out up front) with amazing coffee, meats, pastries, cereal, yogurt and chesses. She also was a great help pointing out a walking route on the map and did not at all push any paid tours which I suspect they normally would be compensated for. That tour took most of the day and was a lot of fun. She also helped me book a trip to the salt mines which is worth the trip in my opinion. The guy that was there during the next day also kept watch of my bags when I checked out so I could tour a little more.

As for the room itself, I thought it was really spacious, very clean and had no issues with lighting like some people have mentioned. The bathrooms were very nice and the showers were warm.

What more can you ask for? If I was ever back in the city I would definitely stay there again.

Excellent taxi driver organised by owner of hotel. Reception was appalling - left standing for some time. Room extremely dark and only marginally improved by putting all the lights on. One set of blinds wouldn't work. Room clean and spacious. Very poor attention received from young man whose job it was to help us. Local info not known, and request for items not fulfilled. Best day was when a different receptionist was on duty and suddenly we had honey and an assortment of breads at breakfast, mugs of drink as requested, and the offer of booking a table for us at a local restaurant. Pity she wasn't there all the time!! Entrance to hotel rather offputting - up 2 flights of 'tatty' steps. Other more enticing hotels in the vicinity.

Dear Guest,

We are very sorry that your stay in our hotel was not as you had expected and that we gave you the impression that we did not care about our guests.

If it so happened, that something was not done well enough to make your stay comfortable I want to apologize on behalf of myself and staff.

In December we redecorated staircase and add some more laps. During that period we also redecorated all superior rooms and replaced lamps with more efficient one.

Thank you for understanding and hope that next time you come to Cracow you stay with us that we will do our best to make of your time in our hotel as pleasant as possible!

Best regards,

Ewelina

Excellent apartment hotel very clean, nicely furnished, comfy beds and excellent showers - good value for money. Slight down side it is a little further outside the main town square and attractions than would be preferable but quiet and we managed to walk off some of our excellent dinners on the way home.
