I booked the Hotel Pod Wawelem as a surprise weekend break for my husband's 40th birthday. On the morning of our outward-bound journey I emailed the hotel to ask if they could have a balloon or banner in the room as an additional surprise. When we arrived I was delighted to find not only 40 balloons, but a card, chocolates and a bottle of bellini. What a lovely touch!
The hotel was situated next to the river Wisla, 2 mins walk from Wawel Castle. It was situated within walking distance from the main square but was far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Perfect!
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. I usually find it difficult to find a comfortable bed when staying in hotels....this one was perfect!!! No sore back in the morning! The room had an en suite with a powerful shower and had a view of the river Wisla. The air conditioning added to the perfect temperature of the room. An added bonus was the roof top terrace which was very popular. Here you could eat and/or drink and although we didn't sample the food, it looked and smelt delicious! Breakfast was more than ample and consisted of a buffet of cold meats, cheeses, cereal, fruit, hot foods and a selection of breads and pickles. There was something to suit everyone's taste and you were welcome to eat as much as you wanted.
My only regret was that we not able to stay for longer!! The Hotel Pod Wawelem is a superb hotel, perfectly situated and my husband and I will definitely be back!
