Very welcoming reception staff, who couldn't do enough to help you. Excellent room with welcoming caraff of vodka- a lovely touch! Breakfasts very good too. A well positioned hotel, far from the madding crowd, but still within an easy and quick walk to the central square.

We chose Hotel Amber of a bit of a wim, but very glad we stumbled across it online. We arrived at the hotel late afternoon using Krakow Airport Taxi Service (very nice driver and it cost around £20) and was greeted at reception, check in was speedy and we were soon in our lovely room. The staff speak very good English, I was trying to use Polish greetings however I wasn't ready for a full conversation! Room was clean, warm and had everything we needed as a father and daughter stay. The hotel offered to book tours for us but we had already booked to visit Auschwitz. Breakfast was a bit strange - a buffet continental style, with a lot of salad, not sure if that's how the Poles do it or not but we just had cereals and toast. Wasn't really up our street but other guests seemed to enjoy it. The hotel was a perfect distance from the main market square with a great selection of places to eat. Both nights we were in Krakow we ate at an Italian near the main market square, (turn left out of hotel, then left again and keep going straight across the road and up the "high street" you'll spot the Mcdonalds yellow M, it's a bit before that on the right. Begins with a B - can't remember the name. Very nice food and very reasonable prices, and always busy, yet still good service. Check out was simple at the hotel and the price was as we booked plus local tax - great value for money in our opinion. We're glad to have stayed at Hotel Amber for our short visit to Krakow and will definitely return if we decide to visit the city again.

Room Tip: We booked a standard twin room but got upgraded to a superior one in the design section.

Amber hotel was excellent. Very clean rooms, new decor, comfy beds etc. Reception staff were very helpful and were willing to help with any questions. A great experience. Handy for all attractions. Breakfast was brilliant.

Room Tip: Ask reception.

This is our second stay at Hotel Amber. Once again this hotel has met our expectations. A warm, friendly welcome, rooms ready very early in the day following our early flight. Spotlessly clean, modern and quite central. Highly recommended.

i had a few issues 1. a small gym and sauna was advertised but we couldn't find them. there were renovations taking place but we were not informed 2. when people came in late they could be easily heard talking and woke us up both nights - very loud it was strange 3. couldn't work the safe in our room 4. breakfast was very basic for four star 5 restaurant doubled as a bar with no atmosphere
