Stayed 4 nights over New Year's. Hotel is 10 minutes from the central square, and 10 minutes from the train & bus stations. Fantastic! Room was relatively large (corner room facing the street) and was clean and comfortable. Soap, shampoo and conditioner provided, but no tea/coffee in the room. Not a big deal since the nice breakfast included tea/coffee and the hotel bar (open afternoon - late) had high quality espresso along with the standard cocktails / spirits / beers / tea and soft drinks. We took advantage of their offerings a few times (priced reasonably) before setting off for our evenings out.

The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and were happy to telephone restaurants we had selected (on trip advisor!) for us to make reservations.

Room Tip: We had a corner room facing the street. Friends with corner room facing the train said they could no...

This hotel is located in the middle of everything- around an 8min walk to Galeria Krakowska, main train station and Krakow Market Square. The main bus station is around 10-15min walk from the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean on arrival. We had a buffet breakfast every morning which was very filling. They had a large variety of juices, meat, cheeses, cereals and breads. Staff were welcoming, helpful and very knowledgable regarding bus/trams and also the bar tender made amazing hot chocolates!

Having just completed our third '30 day' stay at the Ascot Hotel since the end of July 2013, we can confirm our previous glowing review. The Ascot has, yet again, been an oasis of friendly and supportive staff as we daily toiled to discharge our arduous care responsibilities for sick elderly parents living nearby.

Whatever the future holds, we shall never forget the kindness and efficiency of the reception staff, the barmen, the breakfast staff, the cleaners, the maintenance man, the security men and, not least, the manager. My wife and I wish them all a very Happy New Year 2014!

We stayed here for 3 nights, location was excellent! City centre was 5 minutes away on foot. Hotel was clean and tidy, not that we spent much time here as we were out most of the day and night. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable of the area, recommending nice places to see or eat etc Breakfast was lovely and fresh and had a good selection of continental and English items. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Brilliant hotel, clean and tidy that is well worth a visit. Central for the town with loads of restaurants within a short distance. Would certainly come again and had a great time!
Pavement works outside in the street a bit of a pain but these will soon be finished and the essential work will be to everyone's benefit!!! Nice one Hotel Ascot!!

We have just returned from a three night stay in the Ascot Hotel. We found it very comfortable and well situated for everything we wanted to see. The rooms are small (although we had two rooms and one was bigger and better laid out than the other – so I guess that’s the luck of the draw) the bed was very comfortable, but only one pillow each and no way to get a second on our first night as housekeeping had gone home. The room is clean, but the budget touches are apparent, the curtains are very thin and not big enough to cover the whole window so light bleeds in, there are no tea and coffee making facilities which we would have appreciated coming in on a cold evening, there are no bedside tables, only a shelf over the bed which can be awkward to reach when you are lying down. I would say the biggest gripe with the room was the paper thin walls, lucky we had considerate neighbours and it didn’t disturb us, but when the TV was put on next door, it sounded like it was in the room with us.

The bathroom was a good size and the shower was powerful with lots of hot water, but again, money saving touches apparent, there was no body lotion or conditioner (normally wouldn’t be an issue as I would bring my own, but as we were travelling with hand luggage only, it would have been nice to have these included.) The towels were very hard, it was like drying with sandpaper. The toilet filled continuously when flushed and you had to jab the flush button sharply to get it to stop.

The breakfast in the hotel was good with plenty of choice, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, lots of cheese, ham, bread and also hot options of sausage, bacon and egg. It was a great start to a day of sightseeing on a cold day.

The location of the hotel was excellent, about 7 minutes walk to the main square and less than 5 minutes to the train station. I was glad to be a little away from the main square as I imagine it can get pretty rowdy. Our rooms faced the front and there was road works going on, but the sound proofing on the windows was good, so it didn’t really bother us.

The staff in the hotel are pleasant, they where helpful in booking a taxi for our last day and holding on to our luggage after we checked out. The housekeeping was a bit hit and miss though, she didn’t replenish our toilet roll on either morning – even when the roll on the dispenser was empty!

Overall though, we enjoyed our stay. The location, comfortable beds, good breakfast, strong wifi and friendly staff outweighed any little niggles we had. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good budget option in the city.
Krakow is a stunning city, the Christmas market was beautiful and it’s a perfect place for a short break. We will definitely be back.
