“Abella 10/10”
Reviewed 16 March 2013

Right from booking our hotel we were in contact with staff to arrange our arrival time. Upon arrival we were given a choice of rooms both of which were very spacious and would comfortably fit a family of 4. I must say that the rooms were impecably clean including the bathroom. The shower facilities were also great as seemed to be a brand new power shower with endless hot water.

We were greeted by Sylvia whom throughout our stay was a pleasure and happy to help where possible, she booked our trips, gave us city guide books, directions and details for trams and tips for local restaurants. We cannot thank her enough for making our stay as easy and pleasureable as possible.

We were also pleased to find out there was a complimentary breakfast consisting of a choice of breads, fruit, fresh juice, yogourt and muesli, this would be delivered to our room at a time of our choosing.

The hotel is a short walk from the main square and train station which was ideal. This also means on a night it is far away enough from the noise of the centre, and although there is a tram stop outside the trams do not make enough noise to wake the light like myself.

Overall i would give this hotel and staff 10/10 and we will be booking this hotel again in the future.

Abella is located walkable distance from the city center. Actually we felt that the castle, city center, the lake, the park, the mall, bus stop, train stop and the Jewish area were all in a walkable distance. On the whole Abella is worth it you are the type of traveller who does not like the fancy frills of a hotel. It's simple, you get what you pay for. You basically get an apartment. The breakfast that you get is continental, bread, butter, jam and cereal. Hey it's not a five star hotel! The breakfast gets delivered to your room. We did not mind it at all. We asked for laundry and paid 30 PLN for one big bag of laundry. we thought it was really cheap. One thing that is noteworthy, the who work there are simply amazing. We can't thank them enough. They went out of there way to answer our questions. They even held our luggage on the last day.

Pluses are - nice location - not in the center, but you can get there in 10 walking minutes or take a tram that stops just under the hotel. Very nice rooms, very big and comfortable beds and nice staff. Doesn't have a kitchen, but has a shared refrigeration and each room has a cattle, so that's very nice if you want to make a tea/ coffee (and they supply both as well). Would recommend for someone that looking for a nice place near a center.

Minuses: Breakfast in the room is a very nice thing, because you don't have to dress up and all, but I prefer a buffet to be honest. Also, not directly in the center and while it's very close and reachable by foot and a tram, still, if you plan to stay late in the center and have few drinks, it's a bummer to return in the middle of the night. But overall, the pluses really outweighs the minuses and it's a really nice place.

One point about their trips offers - they aren't too bad, but there are much less expensive options in city center - promoters on the streets of the old town offer a lot of offers and if for example, they offer visit to Salt Mines for 140 zt, you have tours offering the same deal for 100 zt. or even less...

This trip, I was travelling with family and looking for something nicer than basic; Abella hit the mark in terms of cleanliness, price, and location, but not more than that. There was definitely room for improvement. The person behind the desk when we arrived gave us information that was consistently wrong about times and prices for tours. The internet was wired only, meaning iPads will not work. The road outside was very loud and our window could not close, making it impossible to sleep in that room with the roar of traffic and the tram. Breakfast was a refrigerated plate brought upstairs. The tiny elevator goes to the third floor, but not the second, so you have to walk up or down steps with your luggage. They asked us what time we were coming via email and were annoyed when we didn't respond; but we were already away in Poland with sporadic internet access. We'd have responded immediately if they'd asked us a week in advance. In summary, they do all the things they say they do, but only to a bare minimum, and I'd only stay here again if I were on a strict budget.

Room Tip: Away from the road if at all possible; it may not be.

We took our trip from 17th May - 21st May 2012 and had two adjoining rooms on the first floor.
The place was great. Clean, spacious and close to the city centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the price was very reasonable. I'd certainly use them again.

We arrived at the Abella on Thursday 8th March 2012 for a week, the staff are wonderful and cheerful and really helpful, they helped us out alot by organising tours, Auschwitz, Salt Mines, Communism Tour of Nowa Huta(Highly Reccomended) and organising Airport transfers, another good thing is that i needed a tailoress when i was there and this would of been difficult as we didnt speak Polish and the staff helped us out by finding one just down the road. We had the four people apartment and it was very clean and very spacious as it was just for the two of us, where it is situated on Dluga Street it is only a five minute walk to the market square. Overall as i have been to Krakow twice now, the Abella gets a full thumbs up from me and if i went across again i would definitely be staying there.

Just back from four days in beautiful Krakow. Stayed at the Abella Guest Rooms and am very pleased I did. Location and staff excellent, rooms very clean and have everything you need. If you want a fancy five star hotel then you'll find one in another part of Krakow but if you want excellent service, great location and great prices then the Abella Guest Rooms are the place to go. Will be back very soon..
