A very complete museum about Nazi occupation in Poland. A must, specially if you don't have time/want to spend an entire day at Auschwitz.

“Wonderful exhibits”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The main exhibition was really well done. You might think this is a museum about Schindler's List. It isn't - it's much more. Although there was a special section on Schindler and the Jews he saved from the KL Plaszow, the bulk of the museum is devoted to Krakow during the 1939-1945 period. Lots of contemporaneous items from those years, combined with great explanations of everything in Polish and English. Some portions of the museum were set up, so that you would feel at least in some small part that it was as if you were there. Numerous films (including interviews with people who lived in Krakow during the period) throughout, and again, almost all of them had English subtitles. Numerous interactive touch screen explanations as well. For some of the details (for example, to read the original posters and placards), it would be nice to know German or Polish, but even there, in some cases, it's not hard to get the idea (e.g., an actual tram with a sign "Benutzung durch Juden verboten").
Well worth the 19 PLN (a little more than $6 at current exchange rates).

“More than just the film...”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The museum contains an absolute wealth of information and interactive displays about life in Krakow in and around the second world war. It certainly doesn't just concentrate on Oskar Schindler or the factory, though they are of course included, but gives plenty more history, from the fact that Roman Polanski was himself in the Krakow ghetto to the development of government of Krakow under the Nazis. It certainly shows you many reasons not to believe all of what you saw in the film, but it's very well done.

“disappointing really”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

I read the reviews before I went so I pretty much knew what to expect. although the museum is not really expensive its a bit of a let down, There are not many original artifacts and a lot of the exhibits are photocopies of documents and copies of photographs. I have been to Krakow several times before and didnt really learn anything new. Just the name Schindlers factory is enough to bring people to the museum and its a real pity theres not a lot of information about him or the things he did. The museum has been "jazzed up" a bit by having sensory exhibits, peering through holes in the wall and strangely a room with a cushioned floor (?) not relevant and not needed. I did the whole museum in around an hour and was glad to leave to be honest. I think you would be better off visiting the jewish district and visiting the synogogues, much more interesting and relevant.

“History in person”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

A chance to stand at the gates of the factory that I have only seen in the movie Schindler's List. It will make you think of what the workers went through and how one man could make a difference. The museum walks you through the war from start to finish. Standing in Oscar Shindler's office made me think of how he defended and helps his workers survive. There is a ten or fifteen minute movie that tells of the heroic actions he took to protect them. A must see for anyone. The only problem I found was the tours, they stop and explain through out the tour and you have to wait or make your way through to continue. A small price to pay really, but it can make the visit drag a bit
