My wife and I have really enjoyed our first visit to Poland and Krakow in particular.
We chose to stay at the Hotel Rubinstein which is a first class hotel with excellent staff and superb accommodation.
It is situated in a lovely square in the Jewish quarter " Kazimierz " which is central for the main square, the Wavel castle and Schindlers Factory all of which are a 15 minute easy walk.
Krakow is a wonderful place with fabulous pavement / roadside cafe culture, superb restaurants and bars. All very friendly.
A must visit, of course, is Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camps. We found it very moving and would not have missed the opportunity to see at first hand what all of these poor people had suffered.
Everyone should go there!
All in all a visit to remember.

Have just arrived home from a 3 night stay at this lovely hotel with 3 friends.Could not fault the hotel or staff in any way ,in fact the staff went out of their way to assist us and offer excellent advice and service. The rooms were beautiful and the breakfast exceptional. The square it is situated on was a pleasant area in the old Jewish quarter, with restaurants and bars to sit outside at night and although quiet at this time of year we were blessed with warm sunny weather and mild nights(it is usually -10).
We were recommended a polish restaurant/cafe where the locals go to eat called Polowskys ,turn right from hotel, then left ,the food tasted lovely,it was very clean place and 4 meals and a small bottle of wine each, total cost £25 in all!!!
We made our own way to the Salt mines on the train ,cheap and easy to get to rather than an organised tour,3 zloty each way per person, but on the other hand we went by train to Auchwitz big mistake!! took 1 hour 50 mins and still had to find a bus to the camp, went back on a minibus cost less, took less time and lovely scenery.Pick up the minibus from Krakow bus station to Auchwitz for 10 zloty much pleasanter and easier.
Great city to visit with some good sightseeing, hope this review is helpful to you.

My husband and I recently returned from yet another amazing trip to Krakow , this time we went to experience the Christmas Market . We opted to stay once again in our favourite Polish hotel The Rubinstein. The staff are absolutely marvelous. They are professional and courteous and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The Rubinstein exceeds all expectations and delivers on all levels...location , staff and wonderful food. The breakfasts are a feast ..there are a host of offerings for everyones tastes buds . Service is attentive without being intrusive. Dinner is a gastronomic delight from a very talented and wonderful chef who obviously" cooks from the heart "and relishes the pleasure his food gives to those he caters for. We have always enjoyed staying in The Rubinstein and have had no hesitation in recommending it to family , friends and business colleagues . The bar is small and intimate and when candle lit in the evenings is ever so romantic....a lovely area to relax in after a fabulous dinner...great ambience.
The Rubinstein is an elegant , refinded "grown up" boutique hotel offering the guest "that little something extra" that the large corporate chains cannot......personality !
. The rooms ooze character and charm and are serviced to the highest standard ( well done to the hard working and always smiling chambermaids ) . Reception staff are friendly , approachable and so very helpful...as are ALL staff members.
We applaud the staff for being excellent ambassadors for the hotel and Krakow .
My husband and I are already planning our next trip to Krakow and once again we will be booking into The Rubinstein Hotel as we would not consider staying anywhere else in that beautiful and historic city.
P.S. The Christmas Market was fabulous. The snow was falling on Rynek Glowny ( Grand Square ) which was buzzing with Christmas shoppers and the delicious smells of amazing food being cooked was a delight to our noses ....we drank hot spiced mulled wine while a trumpter with a golden trumpet "sounded " the hour and all around the snow lay deep and crisp and even ......now that is what I call Christmassy !

Having had a bad experience on arrival we were moved today by the charming manageress to a beautiful suite at no extra charge. I would like to retract my previous review where I had to sleep on a camp bed. Had booked a twin bedded room and got one small double bed which was unsuitable as too small so we were given a camp bed instead. Was very upset at the time as nobody came to our rescue! Please cancel my previous report in view of the fact that the manageress was sympathetic and did something about it immediately.

booked twin bedded room - only queen size bedded room available on arrival. same situation for another couple who had booked twin. Said they were full - no apology and they put me on a camp bed and my sister slept on the queen size bed.

I stayed with my sister in law for 4 nights. Fantastic hotel, fantastic breakfast with real cappucino coffee, lovely cheeses, fresh pineapple, eggs made in whatever way you like, tasty pancakes and more. The room was nice, comfortable, with free Internet access and a beautiful shower. I had a room at the back and the view was not very exciting so I recommend to ask for front room. The reception people were fantastic, kind and helpful and gave us a lot of useful information. Nothing was too much for them. The only set-back is that the hotel is a 20 min. walk from the old town center, but if you are tired, taxis are very cheap and I would never not use this hotel because of it. Again, I recommend the hotel very warmly.
