“Disappointed with the accommodation and quality of food prepared for New Year's Eve dinner.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2013

We stayed for an (extremely) overpriced New Year's Eve dinner buffet. Drinks were included (apart from beer) and were of low quality, not reflective of the price paid for the evening.

Room extremely small (the double bed literally filled it and no wardrobes or storage space for jackets/coats; although it should be said that this room was located in the eaves of the hotel and the rooms may have been bigger on the lower floors. The bathroom was of a reasonable standard, though the toilet flush was faulty.

Breakfast was minimal, with many dishes having run out with no staff to replenish them.

I would have preferred to have shared my disappointment with the hotel staff in the morning, however we weren't asked about our stay or dealt with in a friendly or courteous way.

Takeaway: very nicely rennovated country manor in out of the way location, but poorly ventilated rooms. Kitchen surprisingly good. Inexpensive.

My spouse and I wanted to find a place outside of a major city where we could stay to see some of the sights in SW Poland and found this one via the historical hotels website.
The hotel is a thoroughly rennovated country manor on the outskirts of Jelenia Gora.
Location: well, a little out of the way so that travel times to surrounding attractions is a little long and via smaller roads. The gounds are nice - large lawn, a few largish ponds out in front (the water of "Palace on the Water" - do not expect a large lake!) with swans, ducks, etc. and a nice fountain. The downside is that it is in what can only be called a suburb and there are a fair number of mosquitos.
Hotel: Very nicely rennovated. If the starting condition is anything like the out-buildings in the back (as of yet unrennovated) or some of the similar manors down the road, they have done a great job of fixing it up. Modern bathrooms, high quality beds, nice sprinkling of antique furniture. Looks like the family currently lives on the second floor while the guest rooms are on the top floor. (so lots of steps to get up to your room) Big problem with this is that there is one small window per room and not nearly enough airflow to keep you comfortable when the weather is hot (we had +35C/+90F). Simply making a fan available would have helped.
Restaurant: Big surprise, very tasty food! I would be happy to head to a restaurant serving similar food back at home. On the other hand, I think the girls (family daughter and best friend?) are not quite up on how one does the service part. (e.g. never asked if we wanted water with the meal or desert or coffee after, but you can hunt them down and ask :-) Menu is a little complex for a hotel of this size. If I were the owners, I would simplify.
Price: room was about EUR 70 per night and dinner was about EUR 23 one night (with nice bottle of wine) and EUR 13 the other (with house wine) per diner with wine, appetizer and main.

Note, no internet. 3G coverage weak.
