Stayed here in July 2014. I came a bit early (5o'clock in the morning) but check-in was no problem at all. I thanks to the well set up common living room, I met enough cool and interesting international travellers. Cosy beds, clean bathrooms and very kind and social people at the reception 24/7. If I decide to come to Wroclaw again, I would definitively stay at this place again!

The hostel is a little bit difficult to find since it's located in a rather peripheral neighborhood, but once you've gone up the stairs to the first floor you arrive at an amazing place. First of all, the staff is extremely friendly, cool and eager to help you with all sorts of things. Everyone speaks fluent English and are simply really nice.
I stayed at a 10-person dorm but there was only one other guest staying in the same room. The bed is actually pretty good; I like the softer mattresses so I've been lucky this time. The street is rather quiet at night so you don't have to worry about that.

Breakfast is hostel-ish: not splendid but still enough to get different kinds of bread, cereal, spread and so on. Common living room, kitchen and the hallways are well maintained, nicely decorated and clean. The hostel is about a 15-minute walk to the city centre / main square. I can definitely recommend this place. Showers and toilets are clean and well maintained.

After visiting Grampas for the first time in October of 2013, I've been back twice.

The outside of the hostel is a bit sketchy (and the building itself might look a little rundown), but once inside, the hostel is completely modern with the best hostel showers I've ever encountered. As mentioned in other reviews, the bathrooms are quite small so theoretically it could take a while to use the showers, but I haven't run into that problem yet. I would also say the bathrooms are the nicest I've found in any hostel (incredibly clean with amazing water pressure). The rooms are big, well lit and quiet.

There is a big kitchen fully equipped with anything you might need and the common room is spacious with plenty of games and a new TV. My only qualm is the location. It's only about a 10 or so minute walk from the Old Town, but as a single female I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable walking back alone at night.

Considering I've stayed here three times already, I would definitely recommend this hostel!

Driving a car I've found the hostel (big sign at the entrance) surprisingly easy. The big old building (looks quite interesting from the front side) near park is just a few hundred meters across the river from the old town which is less than 10 minutes walk away. There is a big free parking behind the building, but you should turn to the right from the hostel entrance and then once more to the right. There is a small parking near the shop Zabka, but if you continue 50 m and than turn right, you come to a big parking place just at the backdoor of nearby building. The doors are open so you go through to the main road and there on the right is the entrance to the hostel...
I loved the hostel on the 1st floor from the first sight – high ceilings, big bright rooms, colorful painted. The staff was very friendly and informative, especially the owner Alex (French Canadian). The hostel is (after two years) still like new with inviting comfortable common room and big, well equiped kitchen (big retro look fridge, microwave oven, waffle maker, water boiler, dish washer, electric cooker with baking oven,.) There is a free high speed wi-fi and also a computer if you don't have one with you. The showers and toilets as well as all place were super clean. The bed was comfortable, heating in a cold spring night good, and I felt very safe. There are lockers in the room for smaller backpacks or valuable items. Bigger backpacks could be stored in a special locked room. The dorm room is organized in a way, that the last person who leaves it, has to lock it and leave the key at the reception. The reception is open 24 hours, so you can party in town as long as you wish... All in all, I wish there were more hostels like this! Alex has been traveling a lot and he really knows, what travelers of all ages like and need!

Room Tip: bring some food for cooking - the kitchen is well equipped

It's well located, near the centre and in front of a park. Excellent reception and 24h. Would come back and stay more, sadly just one night in Wroclaw. About the free parking is on the street, there's no parking area from the hostel
