This friendly place is full of atmosphere with interesting and traditional objects and furs on the chairs. The staff are excellent and the food is hearty and genuine - almost a complete opposite of the average British gastro pub where we suffer average food by snooty staff in order to feel comfortable having a drink.
I went here twice in 5 days, and would return again. The steak tartare is soft and refreshing. The slow cooked ham hock in horseradish sauce is every bit as delicious as it sounds, and the duck with cherries was highly memorable. Portions are large, and the side dishes are of a high quality. Beer was also kept very well.
Staff spoke excellent English and were on hand to provide excellent advice and the whole meal was very reasonably priced on both occasions.
