The hotel is very old-fashioned and bears the signs of time. Squeaking floors, moving tiles on the stairs, that decadent atmosphere that I like very much. So, if you like the sort, you will enjoy this hotel. On the very plus side I count very big rooms, new elevators, new bathrooms, smokers rooms availability, free wifi connection, and the friendliness of the staff. Pay attention to the parking place, if not available directly in front of the hotel ask the reception for help.

We were staying at the hotel between 19-22.04.2013. we have booked a higher standard room (studio) as it was for a special occasion however when we checked in we were put in a standard room. Only when I came downstairs we were told that they made a mistake. Unfortunately it was after midnight when this issue was resolved and we had to stay in a standard room until next day when the reception decided to move us to an apartment free of charge. We were expecting much higher standard of room. The bathroom in a standard room was absolutely awful. It did stink and looked very very dated. Not working shower did not help.
in regards to the apartment - the room standard was not much higher - the bathroom did stink with the odour from pipes. This hotel definitely needs renovating and good investment in renovation. Staff was OK except female receptionist who were not very pleasant.
I will not stay there again. I loved Lodz but not at that hotel.

Room Tip: ask to see the room before checking in if you have a chance

This is an old hotel that housed also a theatre. It is only an hotel but nicely renovated. The theatre room is used as breakfast room. The rooms have all high ceilings and renovated bathrooms. It is not high luxury but very comfortable. Nice and helpfull staff.

Almost historic hotel - seemed very soviet when walking around the halls.
Still being renovated, but the finished areas are very nice.
Hotel room had good view of the front street. Rooms were plain but clean.
Best part about the hotel was the breakfast buffet which was the best I had ever seen! It is worth it to stay there just for breakfast - honest.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. They seem more used to business travelers that tourists.
They did our laundry for free!

My daughters and I showed up at the hotel on a chilly December afternoon and got a small suite without any problems. We loved the grand staircase and the dining room where breakfast was served - it was post-industrial rococo with some psychedelic colors and cherubs, just the way it was meant to be. The hallways were a tad long and the carpeting somewhat tired.... BUT we did not go there with the expectation of finding another Hilton or Marriott. In fact, we would have loved to have some more of the old charm... even if a bit fatigued.

nice place, endless corridors, great staircases, huge breakfast room. Wifi works excellent, spacious room, nice view of what's going on at Piotrowska.

Breakfast was really nice, lots of different stuff. Just the coffee from the big cans was absolutely undrinkable, but you could ask for a fresh made cup and all was well.

Room Tip: i got a double room for single use and had a very spacious room for little money.

Yes the hotel has seen 'grander' days and is a little shabby in places but at the same time it has a certain charm that only comes with a hotel of the era. The rooms were basic but clean and spacious with a huge comfortable king size bed in one and comfy sofas in a separate area in the twin room and both with a mini bar but no coffee/ tea facilities. Our double room was located overlooking the main street and whilst this was nice because we had a small balcony it was also noisy at night.
The communal areas of the hotel are of a neo-rennaisance style with comfy chairs in the reception. We only ate breakfast here but the food was excellent and nothing too much trouble for the table staff. Similarly, the reception, bar and cleaning staff were more than happy to help and very friendly and welcoming. Their knowledge of the local bus and tram service, costs, where to catch them, what numbers and explanation of the ticket prices and which to buy etc was inexhaustible as was their patience for my questions!
The hotel is in an ideal location on Piotrkowska which is full of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Also, the main tram and bus stops are only a short walk away.
Overall, our experience at this hotel was very good, the tired nature of the building more than compensated for by the friendliness of the people, excellent location and value for money. I would not hesitate to book here again as I got everything I needed and expected from this Hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet night ask for a room away from the front.
