Anytime we visit Poland, Piccolo is on our 'must-go' list for a quick lunch. Really good value for money - I do not think you can get anything better for 1 pound - as that is the price of the small bowl of pasta (literally - probably even less - 95 p as my lovely daughter has corrected me), but the other hand you have very limited options in the menu: 3-4 (not so much) different spaghettis and a few fruit salads available. Although they are a chain of quite a few diners - they have quite consistent quality of the food offered in different locations. To summarize: place to go for not expensive, quick and edible lunch.

This petite little branch of fast food diner's, is an 'italian' themed establishment built for a 'family fare'. Well, there's no truth in either, it is about as italian as a scottish man born in iceland. The only italian element of this restaurant is that it sells pasta and the menu has your standard italian items. I ate at this place and ordered the risotto. Risotto, usually a dish of so much character and meaning, from it's rich and silky cream like texture to it's symbolically poor roots. This 'risotto' served here was an absolute disgrace and the most degrading imitation anyone can think of. I mean boiled rice with some pineapple and peppers, with melted cheese on top with the optional 'bolognese' (which frankly is closer to a chilli con carne than bolgonese), this is just an absolute insult to italian food. okay so it costs what 6zl/1.50 euros? you may think i should not expect much for such a price, but be realistic if it's on your menu as risotto or bolognese at least keep true to the menu and not serve some pile of imitation food which dogs wouldn't eat.

The Piccolo is a busy spot for takeaways and sitting in. Small portions of fruit and selection of Polish salads as well as pasta dishes. Disposable plates, you order at the counter and dispose of your own empties. Good value for anybody on a budget. Just quick tasty and filling.
