This hotel has mixed reviews, and perhaps it is your luck what type of room you get. The hotel is gradually upgrading and some floors are modern and inkeeping with the lobby and breakfast room and others are older with the traditional lock and key. We stayed in the hotel for 2nights and had an extremely good stay. The room was spacious with twin beds, and extremely clean. My only comment would be that the room gets very hot in the summer, and we tried to keep the window open as much as possible. This was a good value budget hotel and located a short distance from the old town (10minutes).

Other reviewers have described this place as ex-Soviet in style – and it is all that, it’s what you might imagine a 3 star in Poland to be. I stayed one night here recently for a trip to see Ireland crash out of the Euros in about as much style as this hotel has.

The check-in staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is large, with a restaurant and bar. The room was basic and the décor very 1980s. The curtains are paper thin and the AC didn’t work, at least the windows could be opened - but that meant a frightful waking in the middle of the night from a crack of thunder and storm that must have been literally above the hotel!

The shower was good and the price about 200 Zloty (€50) - given it was two days before the match that was great value.

It’s walkable into the Old Square (about 10-12 minutes), with various waves and genuine smiles from the locals at the sight of my Irish jersey – possibly incredulous that I’d still made the trip, despite the fact we had no chance of making the next round! All good natured.

There are surely nicer hotels in Poznan available outside of a time when demand was such that I had to stay here, but that said it was fine and maybe the decent breakfast might draw you in. Free wifi in the reception area.

Cards on the table. Was here for the Euros, expected very little but what a pleasent surprise. Rooms were adequate (basic but what would you expect), view good, service was excellent. Most surprisingly the breakfast was edible! This I didn't expect but when 3 irish guys get up before 10AM after a night out there has to be a good reason!

Location a little out of town which is a negative if like us you were enjoying the local beers. But as a base to explore Poznan (2 nights will suffice) it's surprisingly good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the higher floors, better night's sleep.

The hotel looks like something from the old Soviet Union, but it's fine inside -- providing you ask for a room on the second or third floor.

Stayed there twice during Euro 2012. First stay was great. Third floor room, recently updated with wall-mounted plasma, desk, free wifi, black-out curtains and new bathroom.

Second stay was slightly different. Eighth floor room, decor from 1975 and curtains that wouldn't go the whole way across my east-facing window.

Asked to change rooms and did so on the second day. Staff were excellent, however, and really keen to help.

Ten minutes from centre of Poznan, food good in the restaurant, so a decent base for a one or two night stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room on second or third floor.

The hotel is located on the edge of the city centre and is on bus route 51 that is convenient as it goes to Poznan Glowny railway station from where you can get bus L to the airport. and change money at the best exchange rates. I got 5.18 zl to the pound sterling on June 20th with no commision charges. I came to see the steam trains that run out of Poznan twice each day on regular services. The breakfast is excellent apart from not providing sweetner (sugar substitute), an essential for a diabetic such as myself. Service would have got a higher rating if the reception staff could be more friendly and even smile!
