The hotel is well located and offers all the services a hotel of this range can offer. The only thing is that as a gay couple we were never asked if we wanted a double bed or two separate beds and of course we were attributed a room with two separate beds. I know this is catholic Poland but it wasn't really customer friendly.

The hotel is 3-star so do not expect extra amenities or restaurants in... But! That was an amazing experience, a place I would definitely wish to return. To start with, we were given a choice of rooms when we arrived: one with garden-view and standard size room but spacious bathroom, and one with the street-view with standard-size bathroom (with bath-tube, basically it was two rooms) but huge room. Secondly, it was cold complimentary water in the room with beautiful and delicious local ginger-bread. Amenities in bathroom included salt for bathing, nice and really good lavender and olive shampoo and gels... Cleaning was daily and done very thoroughly.
There is no tea-pot in the room but we were taking boiled water from the cafe down and making our own strong black coffee. Breakfast is also available and price is rather adequate ( we didn't have a chance to try that, unfortunately).
The hotel interior is unique, beautiful and really artistic. , same as the rooms. They have lots of small details, accessories up to large copies of famous paintings all around.
People were very welcoming and helpful. They recommended to us lots of places around the town and did some bookings in advance.
It's an absolutely unique hotel, that you will never forget.

It's always nice to spend a night in a hotel that fully deserves its (here three stars) rating and does not have to make excuses for something that "currently does not work or does not exist though it should". I guess this hotel is such one.
It is perfectly located in the very heart of the old town, some 3-5 minutes walk from the main old town square (with a splendid town hall and the statue of the famous Copernicus). The old building the hotel is located in fits in with a range of such-like surrounding buildings, the architectural sustance making the unique heritage of Toruń's medieval part.
The hotel in its style and character is dedicated to keep up the tradition of the city. No modernity or extravagance; no saving on quality or space, either. I believe that's the main value of this hotel - the room (at least, the one we were given - room no. 121) was so spacious that it actually presented a small appartment, rather. It consisted of two separate semi-rooms, a comfortable bed, a writing desk and a TV set in each(!), with a bathroom and a nice view into a small internal garden, planted inside the courtyard.
I personally did not take the breakfast option, but my friend did and he was very pleased with what he experienced in the breakfast room in the morning.
To sum up, a truly recommendable hotel at a reasonable price (some 30-35 euro for a double room). If only the staff would smile more often and would seem more happy about the place they're running so well...

Room Tip: try room 121

Many years ago the science of making hotels profitable was not so strong as today and there were no hotel chains like Ibis or Park inn. Owners of hotels attracted their clients by quality accommodation and real hospitality. In <Pod orlem> I felt like I live in 1920's or 30's and I can enjoy all the advantages of that time!
First of all, huge room with huge bathroom and huge bed. Rock of pillows and warm blankets, big towels, lovely details like fresh local cakes in special package. Did I book an apartment or just a room in hotel? I don't know, but there was also a kitchen in it.
The guy at the desk honestly suggests you to park your car in the street for free. But if you wish you can try to get to their garage through a scary-narrow arc of the same building.
Don't refuse of a breakfast in the hotel! Their restaurant provides you with various and tasty food including numerous kinds of cheese, meat, eggs, fruits and desserts in vintage interiors.
Location is perfect. It will take you just 2 minutes to ger to the main square.
The only thing I feel sorry for is that I stayed there just for one night.

Pros:
- The location in the heart of Torun, just 5 minutes away from the main square
- Helpful staff
- The building itself is very beautiful
- Blinds on the windows, very good if you can't sleep with daylight on your face.

Cons:
- Wifi signal was quite poor in the room
- No lift (a problem for disable people)

I absolutely loved this hotel. Location is perfect, right in the middle of the gorgeous old town of Torun, nothing in the town is more than ten minutes away. We walked from the train station, which is a good half an hour walk, and that gave us the most breath-taking introduction to the town, and its many spires casting perfect reflections in the water of the Vistula. We were greeted with a smile from the second we arrived and we were upgraded to a nicer room, which was absolutely gorgeous and an exquisite touch. In fact, the whole hotel has got so much character. Beautifully lit art hanging everywhere, wooden features, flowing curtains, old typewriters, a framed cover of the NY Times from the day the Titanic sank, exposed old brickwork. Just gorgeous. If you like mass produced hotel chains, this hotel is not for you; but if you like places that are actually special and have character – this is the perfect choice. Our room also had a splendid and spotlessly clean corner bath, which came with scented bath foam and salts. We had a complimentary little bottle of water left in the room every day and some delicious biscuits carefully wrapped and left on the bed – at this price range this is not something they have to, but was just a lovely touch. Breakfast was wonderfully laid out, varied and delicious. Taking into account the ratio between quality and price, this hotel smashes the five stars.

Stayed here just one night. Didn't feel too welcomed by the guy behind the desk. The rooms are decent, clean. Best thing about the hotel is the location though: at the end of the street is one of the city gates and the river, the other end of the street connects to the main shopping street, which connects to many of the major tourist sites. Nothing in the old town is more than about 10 minutes away. Considering the price vs quality I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in Torun.
