“Two wonderful days at the Warsaw Marriott”
Reviewed 31 May 2009

We chose the Marriott because of the convenient location and we got a prepaid internet rate that was a good value. We had a room on the 28th floor with sweeping views of Warsaw. The view included the Palace of Culture and Science. The room was extremely comfortable with the famous Marriott beds. The breakfasts were outstanding. When we first went into the breakfast area we only saw one station that had a custom omelette area. Then after looking around we saw that there were many more options to the left. The selection was huge, including eggs benedict on smoked salmon, my favorite. There were pastries, sausages, bacon, cold meats and cheeses, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, waffles, yogurts, cereals, a selection of breads, a Japanese food station, etc. One did not need lunch after such a spread. (And this was not the executive level of the hotel.) The hotel is across the street from the train station. There is a city bus right there that takes you to all of the main tourist areas and the airport. However, after eating so much breakfast, we walked everywhere including the Old Town, and Lazienki Park. The latter is a must if you have the time and enjoy beautiful flowers, and seeing peacocks, and the statue of Chopin. There is a shopping center not far from the Marriott, and that leads into the Nowy Swiat area where there are many restaurants both on that street and on Foksal street (a cross street to Nowy Swiat). If you are a chocolate lover you must visit Wedel's chocolate shop and cafe. There are delicious chocolates for sale, and to die for ice cream sundaes. The Marriott hotel has restaurants on the property. We only tried the Champs Sports Bar one night when we were too tired from walking all day to want to go out again. The prices were comfortable, although the Marriott has more expensive restaurants available. This is a very nice hotel. We saw a celebrity political TV host from the USA checking in the night before we left. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

...as it's right opposite the Palace of Science and Culture and about as tall! The view we had was great althought the "executive room" we had was small for three people. As a bonus though, we got free access to the executive lounge on floor 39 where a full continental breakfast was served, and free tea, coffee, soft drinks and nibbles at all hours of day and night, plus internet access. Reception was not particularly forthcoming about this little perk and it really made our break (sad that we should get so excited about unlimited free Danish pastries but hey!) so make sure you take advantage if you have access to it.

I stay at Warsaw Marriott on a regular basis.

I find it excellent value for what you get compared with some of the other 5 star hotels in the city.

The location is excellent, very near the new Zlote shopping and entertainment centre. Close to the business district as well as the main train station.

Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Internet is not free which is a negtive point, not even in the lobby.

Breakfast is fantastic, great choice.

The Gym is very well equipped. The pool is a good size, accompanied by 2 whirlpools. There is also a sauna and steam room.

They also have a casino at the hotel which can be positive or a negative! You get a free drink foro every day you stay, so even if you're not a gambler, you can go in and have your drink and watch others lose their money!

Overall I rank this hotel quite high and will always stay here on each return.

Me and my friend had a very nice stay at this hotel last summer. Our room was great with two separate queensize beds that we asked for. The breakfast was included in the price and it was very good. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi but the best thing was the icemachine in our floor. Our beers were nice and cold because we kept those in our bathtub with lots of ice.

Just back from a 4 day break in Poland (2 in Krakow, 2 in Warsaw) and we stayed at the Marriott for the Warsaw part of our trip. I would sum up the Marriott as disappointing and depressing.

The rooms are standard Marriott, as you would expect. Nice beds with average bathrooms. There are no tea making facilities in the room which, personally, I think is pretty essential although I guess not important to everyone. The hotel makes a lot of noise about it's views but i would say, in order to appreciate them, that the Marriott might like to invest in a window cleaner. The ground floor lobby and the 40th floor panorama bar are surrounded by filthy windows, adding to the generally depressing air, apart from the lobby, of the whole hotel. We went up to enjoy the views but only managed one cocktail before the unwelcoming staff and the headache's we were developing from squinting through the dirt drove us away. I'd like to say something positive but i'm struggling. it wasn't completely awful and was clean enough and absolutely fine for a quick stay. if you need to stay somewhere central for a day or two then you will be fine but it just does not seem good value for money. However, the worst thing for me was the extremely unwelcoming and unhelpful staff. When it come down to it, many hotels (particularly chains) are pretty much the same the world over, but the real difference can be made by the staff. Perhaps they are as unhappy at the Marriott as we were, or perhaps we were just completely spoit by a fantastic stay at The Wentzl in Krakow.

Great location, very close to central station. If arriving by train easy to get lost in the maze of subways that surround the station and Palace of Culture. Once you get your bearings you'll be fine. Impressive public areas that always seemed busy with suited men with laptops and other trappings of executive apparel. Obviously very popular for conferences and meetings. No free internet access and only news in English available free on the TV FREE of charge. Room was fairly small but beds were lovely, so comfortable with quality bedding. A good nights rest is very important when on holiday! Needless to say that you are bound to get a good view from all rooms. The breakfast was good but the "hot" food hardly warm. This seems to be common in Poland, I really don't know why. The Italian Restaurant in the hotel was expensive with mean helpings on large plates. Likewise, the Vienna Cafe was a bit of a let down. The half chicken ordered turned out to be just a breast and a small one at that! Otherwise a lovely hotel. Be careful about trips (not the fault of the hotel) in Warsaw. I enquired about a day trip for my partner and I and was quoted a cost of £337.00. I appreciate that included a guide but no meals or other extras. However, we did a similar trip from Krakow for well under £100 to Zarcopane and the Tatra Mountains. Much better value and a first class guide. Someone needs to realise that in these times we demand value for money.

The highlight of the trip was hand feeding red squirrels in the park with Chopins statue. Sorry, cannot remember the name (the locals will know it, near the Russian Embassy) but DO go there with a bag of nuts! The birds will feed from your hand as well. An absolutely wonderful experience and one I will always remember when I think of Warsaw! There is also a small Royal Palace (open for visits) in the same park and a pleasant cafe that serves great hot chocolate and mulled wine. On Sundays in the summer open air Chopin piano concerts around his statue! Needless to add, it's popular with the locals but was quiet when we were there.
