I have only praise for the Polonia Palace. With so many reasonably priced weekend choices in Warsaw (and my, hasn’t that city grown up, it’s now every inch the cosmopolitan European capital!) it’s with some relief that this is the one we plumped for.
The foyer and restaurant have a graceful, understated elegance and the staff were an absolutely delightful mix of charming and efficient. Rooms are vast and the décor carefully considered with fabulous bathrooms and every conceivable amenity. The sports bar, with its frankly bizarre number of televisions, somehow managed to be something of a haven with a rather decent menu. Even the hotel limousine driver’s absurd stance that it was okay to bully a cyclist because they were cycling across a pedestrian crossing rather than pushing their bicycle (!) didn’t dampen our enthusiasm.
Well done one and all.
