“Excellent stay”

Many friendly words have been written about Polonia Palace, and this will be no exception. My contribution here will consist of a bit of practical advice. Arriving at Chopin Airport and travelling light, it is a perfect option to buy immediately a day-pass (or if relevant a weekend pass) for bus tram and metro. Please note it is in fact a 24hour pass. Take bus 175 and it will bring you almost on the doorstep of the hotel. Should you have lots of luggage, then a taxi is an option. Around 20 euros is a more or less standard tariff for the trip. We booked the hotel directly and that has it advantages. You have a number of benefits mentioned on their site – and they all were honored. (Pretty strange that in other cases you need to pay for wifi.) Room fine, breakfast splendid, location in the centre of town, what else can you want… Just one simple request: for Belgian and Dutch visitors is would be nice to have the free BVN channel available on the tv. Channels from many countries are here, however not from Holland and Belgium. Thank you Polonia Palace, we enjoyed staying in your hotel.

We stayed here in May for a 3 day city break. This is an excellent hotel in a good location its quite a walk from the old town but taxis are cheap if you don't fancy the walk. The hotel reception is spacious and welcoming as are the staff, the breakfast is one of the best I have seen for choice, the rooms are large and have all the facilittes you need. Bojangles is a good place to meet and relax and the cocktails are excellent. We booked the hotel car to take us to the airport (modlin) on our return, the driver was helpful and friendly a nice end to our break.

I would also recommend the Italian restaurant across the road we ate there a couple of times, again friendly helpful staff and the meal was lovely.

Very good hotel, just a few minutes walk from the train station, and close to the historic old town. It has a spacious, welcoming lobby. Staff throughout the hotel is friendly and professional.

Large and clean rooms, many with high ceilings, and some with a nice view of the Stalinist Palace of Culture and Science. Rooms are mostly kept in shades of beige and brown. This style is showing its age, but the rooms are in very good shape. Beds are large and comfortable.

Internet access costs extra and is pricey. This somewhat mitigates the good rates one can often find for this hotel. But overall a very good hotel.

The hotel is as central as you can be in Warsaw, a short walk to the rail station and subways are just under the road, and the Old Town is about a 30 min walk away.

Rooms are clean and very comfortable.

Breakfast is amazing, there is so much choice.

Staff are very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

There is an old expression that "you get what you pay for." That is true with the Polonia Palace. Make no mistake: it is a fairly expensive hotel. At the same time, all of the services and accommodations are excellent. The front desk is extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions, as well as hints about decoding the tram system. Since the words cannot be read and certainly cannot be pronounced unless one speak Polish, it is helpful to have someone guide you through the street and tram conventions. If I were traveling on a strict budget, this is not the first place I would consider. But if I were looking for a restful, elegant experience, this would be at the top of my list.

Room Tip: Good, firm bed. The higher the floor, the quieter the room.

Modern airport train stops at Centrum station then just 500m walk to hotel. Grand style, clean, newly-renovated room tastefully furnished, good service and blazing hot sauna in a small fitness area which helps after the 30 minute 3km walk to the Old Town.

Of all of the hotels in the 6 cities I stayed in on this trip Polonia was the one that almost earned 5 stars: excellent breakfast (with sparkling wine!), clean and comfortable rooms and located in a touristy area of Warsaw with plenty of good restaurants and shopping nearby.

My complaints are with the "free wi fi," which meant I could use it for one hr in the public areas. Want more than an hour, you gotta pay for it.

And one personal encounter: the bartender was really rude. We didn't realize you had to get credit card approval at the main desk first to charge to your room. When we tried to charge our drinks the bartender just said he wouldn't accept our card. He wouldn't accept our currency either: Euros or dollars (we were leaving the next day and no longer had Polish currency). It was a misunderstanding on our part, but he did not explain how we could pay. We told our tour guide the next morning and he confessed he's had problems with the same bartender as well.
