Owner description: After being leveled when the Nazis left, this whole neighborhood of cobblestone Gothic streets and alleyways, baroque palaces, numerous churches and tiered burghers' houses were masterfully reconstructed to reflect the atmosphere of bygone days.

“Step back in time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

Take time to walk the cobblestone streets and imagine a Warsaw prior to the war. Lovely little alleyways with interesting shops.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

Had a short walk through the old town on recent business trip and must say its a beautiful area. We stopped and had a beer on a warm early evening and sat back, relaxed and soaked up the atmosphere. Lovely place, would recommend it.

“Wonderfully rebuilt”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

I did not know much about Warsaw before a business trip there. I was surprised to learn and see pictures about the destruction of the city during WWII where 80% of the city was destroyed. However they had pictures of the old part of town including the city wall and palace. With support from all over the country they rebuilt the area to look like it did before the wall. It is an easy walk from the main downtown area with sights to see along the way (e.g. the church where Chopin's heart is). Once there it is a step back in time with narrow cobblestone streets and neat shops. The several squares are filled with open air restaurants. We ate at two different ones and loved them both - looks like you can't go wrong picking from the variety of different cuisines.
