We had an apartment for our two nights stay - small bedroom but you had the extra room with the livingroom so it worked out well. It did have a kitchenette - pretty well equiped if you wanted to cook. Beds were good and comfortable. The hotel has a bit of an institutional feel to it but the staff are very nice and you can't beat the location. They seemed to have a lot of stuff for kids but we didn't see a lot of them. The rooms are decorated with kids drawings which I found odd but if you have kids maybe that's a good thing. You can use the hot mineral pool of the sister hotel which was excellent and they also have a big water slide which was fun.

We booked on short notice, so many other choices were not available, but this hotel was a good choice for our 3-nights in Bled. The hotel is signposted on the main road into town; turn left at the (very good) Chinese restaurant about when you see the lake ahead. Parking was ample and free and we shared the nearby Golf hotel swimming pools. The room was spacious, very clean and nicely furnished with a balcony with 2 chairs. we had the side opposite the lake view, but could see mountains and found it quiet for sleeping. We booked 2 rooms and our friends had a shower, we had a bathtub, so all rooms are not the same. The fair-sized flat panel TV had many channels to chose from, including CNN and BBC in English and a movie in English each evening on the local station. Shopping and the lake were maybe 5 minutes of walking away. Wifi internet was available in the lobby, but it would have been nice to have it in the room too. Breakfast was great with eggs, meat and pancakes in the hot category and cereals, breads, cheese, fruit etc also on offer. We ate twice at the Chinese restaurant because we liked the food (and the change from the ususal fare). Bled was a highlight of our visit to this region; it was so beautiful! And not too crowded mid-week in mid-September. The castle was full of interesting displays and took us 3 hours to visit, although I must admit we enjoyed the view and a coffee on the terrace during this time too; pleasant to just 'soak up' the sights when they are this grand! But about the hotel; as I mentioned the swimming pools at the Golf hotel were at our disposal, all 8 of them, including the water slide. Great views of the castle while you swim and relax after a day of exploring. There were areas and programs which seemed designed for the little ones but we did not see many of them about during our visit. We paid 105 Euro for our double, which seemed typical for this location.

We holidayed here in August 2011 and had a great time overall.
We went with Thomson Lake and Mountain and found them very professional and helpful through out. We had pre-booked 3 excursions (Venice, The Julian Alps and the Cave and Castle), however when we arrived and it was 34C outside we decided that Venice was a bit too much. The Thomson Rep (Hannah) was very helpful and allowed us to change with out charge. Top service from Hannah!
Airport transfers were good, as expected we were met and a minivan was waiting to take us to Lake Bled. This took around 30 minutes with the driver knowing a better route as there was quite a bit of traffic.
Check in was smoothly done with no hassle such as handing in passports and credit card details etc.
The room was number 552 which was one floor from the top floor, but facing away from the Lake. It did however have great mountain views. The room was sufficient in size, but not overly large. The major downside was that there was no aircon at all. In 34C heat in a South facing room (i.e. full sun of the day all day!) this is not good enough for a *** hotel. Reception were not helpful when we asked for a fan as they “do not do that”. It would have been great to have a place to retreat from the heat to at the end of the day.
Toiletries were not replaced once during the entire week (one small bottle of shampoo and one soap for the entire week). Not an issue for us as we had our own, but take note if you are travelling light!
Sheets were also not changed once in the week – a bit poor when in 34C heat!
Meals were either taken in the breakfast room in the hotel or the Golf Hotel (100m away). Good variety and good food – with continental and cooked (sausages, bacon and scrambled egg) options for breakfast. Dinner was in the Golf – buffet style meals. Good variety. However no drinks included – this includes tap water – so budget £2.50 per bottle per meal. I do not see why a jug could not been given for each table.
Amazing swimming pools in the Golf, which you can use FOC. 4 heated pools indoors and outdoors with a slide for the kids to use.
We did 4 trips in the end. The best by far was the Julian Alps trip – a whole day trip into the Alps with stops for viewing and lunch. The caves were next best – really worth it, with a trip to a castle in another cave. A good half day out. Taste of Slovenia was good, but not great. This included a trip on a Slovenian train (not a steam train) – a normal commuter train. Which was nice as it went through so long tunnels, but not great views, a trip on a boat on a Lake built for a power station – okay, lovely colour water. Finally a wine tasting session and a meal in an amazing part of the country. Bohinj Lake trip was our free trip (buy 3 get a half day one free) so cannot complain about the price, but if I were you I would go to the bus stop and catch a bus there – cheaper and you see the same stuff. Well worth the trip – take the cable car to the top and then the chair lift up higher! Killer views and a good day out – followed by a swim in the Lake!
We also took a trip to the Island – 20 mins each way and you are given a half hour on the island. If you walk 1 mile up the Lake to the camping site side, you have 10 mins each way and an hour on the island. You could swim from there as well! If you get a voucher from the hotel it is only 11 Euros per adult and 5.50 per child!
Downhill tobogganing was also good. You get some free vouchers in the hotel for children. This was good fun and the view of the Lake from the top was also really worth it. If you like you could walk up – following the health trail (number 6) on the map. If you go out the doors, turn left and walk between the Pension Mayer and another Pension it is a short cut to the Stanza Hill. You can also catch the chairlift up and down if you do not want to go on the ride.
Walked up the castle (free entry for children – voucher in the hotel). To die for views and an interesting walk around. Well worth a couple of hours!
Vingter Gorge – reception sent us to the wrong bus stop for the bus that runs here daily, so we ended up walking there and were glad we did. It is a great walk, makes you feel part of the country. Had lunch at the restaurant at the beginning of the gorge – best meal of the holiday! Walked the mile long gorge with it’s waterfalls and crystal clear water! At the end you have the option to walk back to the start and then walk back to the hotel. Or you could walk up the stairs to Katarina Church – not a hard walk, our 6 year old managed it fine and it was a pleasant walk in shaded woodlands (watch out for the bears and wolves!).
All in all a great holiday and we will recommend this hotel and resort!

Nice staff, average breakfast, clean rooms and good location for exploring Lake Bled. What makes this hotel is the great activities provided for children, with daily events planned for them if you wish your little ones to join in.

We booked through Crystal Holidays http://www.crystalsummer.ie/destinations/slovenia/lake_bled/033246/033246.html as part of a 2 week package holiday. 2 adults and 2 children. We visited for the first 2 weeks of July. Package cost €3,000 for flights out of Dublin and accommodation half board – we thought that was good value.

Accommodation
Two connecting rooms, one for children and one for adults, but only one external door to hotel suite – so very safe and well designed for families. Not huge rooms, but adequate and very clean. A/c, mini bar, small balcony (no balcony furniture) a bathroom in each room, bath and shower. 24 hour reception, great staff, very friendly. But the best part is that this hotel is best described as a family annex to the Golf Hotel across the road. This hotel is dead as of 9.30 at night, not a sound, perfect for families and small children. I did hear one small child crying early one morning and a family was noisy one night coming home – so two instances of inconvenient noise in a two week stay. Everything happens in the Golf across the road (except the kids club). A band murdering Dire Straits in the Golf Hotel one evening was inaudible in the Savica hotel once the window was closed. It was like the UN in respect of different nationalities with the kids club staff translating into five languages on occasion.

Kids club
1 or 2, 90 minute children events each day, plus 4-5 longer events a week for families (half hour each way walk to a beekeeper, family canoe trips, family horse riding, walk to a dairy farm to milk cows etc…). The children only events included an obscure musical instrument session, mini disco, art, nest building, making milk shakes, bingo (in 5 languages!) etc… all about 90 minutes long. The kids club staff were really excellent. This is not a drop off your children for the day to be amused type kids club, it is 90 minute sessions where they do unusual things. There is no signing in and out but we felt safe in leaving our children with the staff, whom they really loved. Most other parents also left their children but some stayed and participated in the activities or just observed from a distance. Most kids club events are free or a nominal charge. The family events were excellent, we enjoyed them.

Food
You eat your evening meal in the golf, the food was good. A buffet with 2-3 meats, 1 fish, 3-4 veg, pasta, 2 X soup selection. Salad and antipasto selection, fruit and desert and ice cream selection. Fish was sad, they don’t do fish well, but the rest was good mid-Atlantic fare with occasional Eastern European or Slovenian food. Breakfast was served in the hotel itself and was basic enough: cereal, meat and cheese, rolls and bread and croissants, yogurt, limited fruit, scrambled egg, frankfurters and American style bacon, tea and coffee and hot chocolate. Sweetened apple and orange juice was also available (all Slovenia fruit juice apparently is sweetened and undrinkable).

Location
A lot of steps down to the main strip, or a similar walk down a hill. Perhaps 100 steps all tolled to the lake. Decent sized garden to the side of the hotel with seating. No bar, no loungers – everything like that is in the golf (which you have free access to). Seven great pools and water slide, Jacuzzi, etc.. all indoor, a small bit outdoor in Golf. Great pool facility really, very well supervised and secure. Great view from the pool.

Resort
Quiet, beautiful, clean and a good base for seeing the rest of the country. Close to a cave system that is a cross between the runaway train scene from Indiana Jones and the temple of doom and a scene from a JRR Tolken book. Some really nice day trips to do locally and the adventurous will find lots of adventure sports to try. Stunning scenery. A small resort really.

Room Tip: They have connecting rooms or mini apartments with kitchen

This hotel looks exactly as it does online. It has new interiors and is spotless, and the staff is helpful, warm and inviting. This is a wonderful family place with activities for the kids, family-friendly rooms with bunk beds, refrigerators, an eating table and spacious bathrooms. We chose to pay for the inclusive buffet dinners served at the sister hotel and the price was great and the quality of food was healthy, delicious and there was a great variety. The hotel itself is earth friendly which was great with the exception of the air conditioning which felt almost non-existent. We had a room on the top, 6th floor and it felt the hottest of all the floors. The 6th floor is also the only floor the elevator doesn't go up to (you must walk up a flight of stairs from the 5th floor elevator)and the only floor without a kids playroom- but you can use any of the ones on the other floors.
Overall, we loved this hotel and would stay here again.
