“Well appointed hotel with friendly staff and excellent cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

We have watched the Hotel Triglav being renovated during previous trips to Bled and when we decided to spend Christmas in Slovenia for 2013 it quickly became our first choice. Factors which influenced this were its location on the quiet side of the lake, and the reputed excellence of the dining, in case other places were closed for the holidays.

We booked a suite, plus a single room for our adult son for three nights over Christmas and even though arriving early the rooms were ready. Our suite was beautifully appointed and a good size, and our son was also given a nice room with balcony overlooking the lake.

The staff were, without exception friendly, helpful and polite and all spoke at least acceptable English- most of them perfect. Breakfasts were very good with eggs or pancakes available on request in addition to the buffet items. Coffee in the urn was so-so but proper espresso and cappuccino were also available on request.

The highlight for us was the dinner on Christmas night. The dishes were all excellent, and alternatives were offered for my non meat eating wife. Each of the five courses was small but exquisitely prepared and presented leaving us satisfied but not bloated. The wine recommendations were pricey but fitted the occasion and we were not disappointed. The waiter/sommelier gave a comprehensive account of all we ate and drank. We rounded it off with local desert wine and some of the home made pear schnapps which was excellent.

Although only using them once, the pool and sauna were well equipped with fantastic views of the lake from the pool.

Downsides? Well, the weather was awful, but we can't blame the hotel for that but we would have liked some seasonal snow rather than the incessant rain. A minor annoyance that has been mentioned before is the lack of a bracket for the over-bath shower head rendering showering and hair washing more difficult than it should be. Our son's double room had a much better walk-in shower cubicle. A more major issue is the poor sound proofing between rooms. Maybe a legacy of a historic building, but even so, we could hear every word and movement from the next-door rooms, from both of our rooms. Happily neither disturbed us into the night, but it would be a potential annoyance for anything but a short stay.

Would we/will we return? Without hesitation!

without a reservation i mindlessly followed my gps destined for lake bled. after hours of driving i was tired and just wanted out! when i passed by hotel triglav i remembered reading good reviews and figured i'd take my chances. luckily, they still had availability, even at the last minute.

this is a great hotel, secluded from the rest and away from the, honestly, tackiness that is pervasive in the "town." it's well-appointed with a great staff. they were top-notch in helping me figure out my plans.

note that a single room really only has a single bed. it's pretty small and that took me by surprise. but it was comfortable and had a great balcony overlooking the lake.

the breakfast was very tasty and was my only hotel stay in slovenia to include made-to-order eggs and espresso included. i also had dinner at the restaurant which was good. they have a 4 course menu on offer every night but they allow you to choose as many of those courses as you want for a lesser charge.

all in all, a great place.

Delightful hotel with excellent staff. All requests were cheerfully & fully met. Be sure to take a day to enjoy the resort and take a trip to the island. Try the 1906 Hotel restaurant. best dining experience in 14 day trip. Ask the manager for wine tasting in the cellar you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Great rooms, we had 16 in our group all were happy with their rooms. Make sure to get a lake view.

We just spent two evenings at the Hotel Triglav as part of a vacation in Slovenia and Croatia. It was just wonderful. The rooms are beautiful - we had 207 which was exceptional - and everything was very clean and beautifully maintained. The indoor swimming pool and sauna were great as the weather was rainy. The hotel has a great view over Lake Bled and the island with church in the center of the lake. The extensive breakfast buffet was supplemented by made-to-order eggs and cappucino. The service was also quite gracious. We arrived late - ish the first evening and my partner needed a sandwich, which was prepared quickly and we later learned - with no charge. Also see my review of the Hotel restaurant - 4 stars.

Room Tip: The rooms at either end of the hall - we had 207 - are larger and really quite superb.

I recently stayed at Hotel Triglav in Bled, Slovenia for 7 nights as part of a cycling tour organized by Helia Travel, Lake Bled. The hotel was like a home away from home.
It is a beautifully decorated, small, family owned and operated hotel with all the amenities of a 4* hotel, set away from the hustle and bustle of the township of Bled. An easy 20 minute walk around the lake into town.

The staff were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly while being totally professional. They could not do enough for me or my fellow guests.

The rooms all looked out over the lake and towards the mountains. The view was stunning. The accommodation was very comfortable with a huge bed, air conditioning and heating and a wonderful shower. My room had a balcony overlooking the lake which was the perfect spot to relax after a long day of cycling.

Our meals were delicious. The hotel offered an extensive breakfast buffet as well as eggs or pancakes cooked at your request. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
The dinners were sublime. Each of the three courses a work of art and the menus reflected the local produce of the season.

I incurred an injury during my time in Slovenia and the hotel went out of its way to organize for me to be seen by a local doctor. The receptionist drove me to the doctor and came back to pick me up after the consultation (quite late at night!). The following morning I was then driven to the pharmacy where she waited for my prescriptions to be filled before driving me back to the hotel. This service went way beyond what I would expect from a hotel in any country. It was exceptional.
I cannot recommend Hotel Triglav highly enough.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful

My husband took me here for my birthday and all I can say is the service was exceptional. Our room was divine with a view of the Bled lake. The food/service was extraordinary. Come here and be pampered. The beds were extra firm so if this is your thing you will be delighted like me. If you like something mushy, ask before staying here if they can help you on this one.

Room Tip: Don't stay here when there is a city triatholon going on. Music started blaring at 8 A.M. and th...

We stayed at hotel Triglav in Lake Bled for 2 nights. The service was exceptional, the rooms were great, and the view was fantastic. We rated this place as in the one of our top 5 places in the 9 weeks we have be travelling throughout Europe. We at in the restaurant both nights as we considered the food and service top-notch as well. The breakfast was maybe the one thing we were slightly disappointed in as it was a standard breakfast and compared to everything else it seem to have fallen short even though it was OK. We have added this place to our "have to go back someday" list.

Room Tip: Spend the money for a view room. It is more than worth it.
