“Best location in fairy tale setting”

Hotel Triglav is a clean, spacious, and comfortable option just far enough away from the tacky parts of Bled and close enough to the Lake. From the furniture in the rooms to the food in the restaurant, this hotel is well worth the price.

We stayed in February which was a blessing and a curse - as one of only two sets of guests we had the pool to ourselves with an incredible view of the lake. Breakfast was very good, and both the restaurant and our room had unbelievable views of the lake and the alpine scenery.

However, given the winter weather - a massive amount of snow, the only way to reach the nearby town (and bus station) was a taxi ride - 10 euro each way - which is pretty restricting, given the price of the hotel's restaurant - which was impressive but very expensive for the size of the portions.

In the summer this would be less of an issue as the lake path is about 30 minutes and is a pleasant walk - during our stay we were advised to avoid it for fear of avalanches or felled trees - of which there were many.

The beds were also lackluster - uncomfortable and we had two squashed together single beds when we had expected a double. The room and balcony was otherwise very good.

Still, good staff, a great pool and a brilliant trip!

Situated at the top of some steps from the lake side boating centre a pleasant half hour walk from the centre of Bled, the Triglav is a delightful place to stay. It is homely and un-commercialised, easy to reach by car or train and only one hour from the ski slopes at Vogal. Smoked trout and scrambled egg was a favourite for breakfast. Dinner is much more of an occasion; we suggest the locally made Sutor wines, the sommelier will assist; saddle of venison was faultlessly cooked and wonderfully presented as was the sea bass; the pear strudel is like no other and comprises four layers - home-made pear ice cream, gently caramelised pears, beautifully textured custard and a crumble base, served in a miniature storage jar! The Triglav is a restful hotel where every member of staff takes a positive delight in quietly taking care of you.

it's not what you expect from a 4 star hotel...or it's just that we in Slovenia don't know how 4 stars has to look like...

i have to say that the staff is for a 5 star but the facility isn't at the right level...

is a nice looking hotel with great lake view, and a really great restaurant inside... if not for the rest the restaurant is worth the trip :)

they have a little spa where the saunas are those that you buy for home... and a small pool

but i have to say ...value for money is a picker!

and the staff is way more than accommodating...what the facility lack they make something to make you have it

We have watched the Hotel Triglav being renovated during previous trips to Bled and when we decided to spend Christmas in Slovenia for 2013 it quickly became our first choice. Factors which influenced this were its location on the quiet side of the lake, and the reputed excellence of the dining, in case other places were closed for the holidays.

We booked a suite, plus a single room for our adult son for three nights over Christmas and even though arriving early the rooms were ready. Our suite was beautifully appointed and a good size, and our son was also given a nice room with balcony overlooking the lake.

The staff were, without exception friendly, helpful and polite and all spoke at least acceptable English- most of them perfect. Breakfasts were very good with eggs or pancakes available on request in addition to the buffet items. Coffee in the urn was so-so but proper espresso and cappuccino were also available on request.

The highlight for us was the dinner on Christmas night. The dishes were all excellent, and alternatives were offered for my non meat eating wife. Each of the five courses was small but exquisitely prepared and presented leaving us satisfied but not bloated. The wine recommendations were pricey but fitted the occasion and we were not disappointed. The waiter/sommelier gave a comprehensive account of all we ate and drank. We rounded it off with local desert wine and some of the home made pear schnapps which was excellent.

Although only using them once, the pool and sauna were well equipped with fantastic views of the lake from the pool.

Downsides? Well, the weather was awful, but we can't blame the hotel for that but we would have liked some seasonal snow rather than the incessant rain. A minor annoyance that has been mentioned before is the lack of a bracket for the over-bath shower head rendering showering and hair washing more difficult than it should be. Our son's double room had a much better walk-in shower cubicle. A more major issue is the poor sound proofing between rooms. Maybe a legacy of a historic building, but even so, we could hear every word and movement from the next-door rooms, from both of our rooms. Happily neither disturbed us into the night, but it would be a potential annoyance for anything but a short stay.

Would we/will we return? Without hesitation!

without a reservation i mindlessly followed my gps destined for lake bled. after hours of driving i was tired and just wanted out! when i passed by hotel triglav i remembered reading good reviews and figured i'd take my chances. luckily, they still had availability, even at the last minute.

this is a great hotel, secluded from the rest and away from the, honestly, tackiness that is pervasive in the "town." it's well-appointed with a great staff. they were top-notch in helping me figure out my plans.

note that a single room really only has a single bed. it's pretty small and that took me by surprise. but it was comfortable and had a great balcony overlooking the lake.

the breakfast was very tasty and was my only hotel stay in slovenia to include made-to-order eggs and espresso included. i also had dinner at the restaurant which was good. they have a 4 course menu on offer every night but they allow you to choose as many of those courses as you want for a lesser charge.

all in all, a great place.

Delightful hotel with excellent staff. All requests were cheerfully & fully met. Be sure to take a day to enjoy the resort and take a trip to the island. Try the 1906 Hotel restaurant. best dining experience in 14 day trip. Ask the manager for wine tasting in the cellar you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Great rooms, we had 16 in our group all were happy with their rooms. Make sure to get a lake view.
