“Unique in every way”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Unique is the first word that comes to mind when you look at all the furnishings and attention to detail. Also its location and cuisine are one of a kind. We stayed in Bled on a cold rainy day and enjoyed the view over the lake. Just imagine what it would have been with sunshine !
The staff is very helpful and friendly and the cooking absolutely divine. One feels at home and cared for, a feeling none of the bigger hotel chains can give you. Whilst we were there, a family with children was staying in the hotel and we could see how they were also made welcome and cared for. A very nice touch .

We've stayed 3 nights - first in a rooms with no balcony, the we've upgraded to a room with view and balcony - worth it! A high standards hotel, very nice staff, and of course - amazing location. Far enough from towns center - yet close enough by foot or car, it offers and great experience.

Room Tip: View to the lake - worth it!

From the moment we pulled up to the Hotel Triglav in Bled, Croatia, this perfectly charming bright golden yellow with green trim hotel gave a strong hint of the pure joy we would experience during our too short 2 night stay there.

We had a room with a double twin bed & a balcony overlooking the breathtaking Lake Bled with the Slovenian Alps as a backdrop. The color of the water is an indescribable rich green blue, probably associated with alpine runoff. In the middle of Lake Bled is an island, the home of the Church of the Assumption, and not far (as it is an easy walk around the lake) overlooking the lake is Bled Castle. Both the church & the castle are lighted at night, so photographs of them in the same frame or individually are lovely with the water's reflection. The lake is frequently calm and smooth as glass.

At any time of day or night from our room balcony, we could look out and see the island & the church, lit up & helping us take unique photographs. While the hotel didn't have a view of the Bled Castle due to its proximity & the intervening trees, it was a short car ride or walk for a walking enthusiast.

We saw cyclists everywhere, joggers, but more than anything---walkers...lots & lots of walkers of all ages.

Nearby is also the Vintger Gorge with phenomenal views of the rushing Vintger River. While it is an uphill hike of 30-60 minutes one way, depending upon your fitness level (& how many times you stop for photo opportunities along the way), you will be rewarded with nature's awesome force and beauty. Hint: no need to hike to the bitter end. You can stop short of the final not so terrific waterfall because through the genius of someone lacking foresight, it's covered by a BRIDGE, substantially eliminating any oohs & ahs.

Hotel Triglav has its own restaurant that also overlooks Lake Bled & you may eat outside on the terrace adjoining the dining room if you choose. We opted to have our reservation include breakfast, & they put on a heck of a spread on their buffet. You may also add to that by ordering hot food from the kitchen. It was all delicious, as was dinner.

We plan on returning to Hotel Triglav in the future; but the next time, we shall stay for a week & also explore more of the surrounding area. We very highly recommend Hotel Triglav!

If you find yourself planning a trip there, try to plan it for just before "the season" starts, as prices approximately double then.

Really nice 4-star hotel, especially rooms with terrace and incredible lake view. Very decent breakfast buffet, however the last morning, as there were very few guests, choice was less than other days. Free parking and a 30-minute, but nice lakeside walk to the center of Bled.

Room Tip: Choose a room with lakeview!

we chose Triglav for its beautiful location overlooking lake bled. the view is as beautiful as hoped but what we didn't eexpect was the ftantastic gourmet food and ervice in the restaurant.
usually prefer to go to restaurnts but because the view was so good and it was late we went to the hotel restaurant. we had their set menu - which was meat but they did a fish version for me. all courses were amazing, ight down to the homemade sorbet for dessert.

beautiful setting, beautiful food, beautiful service.

Room Tip: lake view is worth it

I have visited hotel Triglav Restaurant several times by dufferent occassions, such as birthday parties, family get together dinners, specal evening events...., can say allways perfect. The restaurant has a beautifull view to the lake and Island, from now on as vell beautifull new terrasse. The food is very tasty, perfectly decorated and proffessionally served. The restaurant has big choise from excellent wines. They can host you in their own wine cellar. For sure is restaurant Hotel Triglav one of the best in the Lake Bled.

It has the freshness of a Swiss mountain chalet combined with unmistakable luxury in its corridors, rooms and not the least the dining room with the spectacular picture window showing the lake.
The major decision for a potential visitor is whether you want to stay a distance away from the Bled Town. A private car would be a must, since for sightseeing and dining options (despite the highly rated and priced dinner at the hotel) you would have to drive. Parking is right in front. Once you decide to stay away from the town, this hotel becomes a great choice.
There is ample evidence of attention to detail in this hotel and it is a quality operation that should please even the most discriminating. It was the best hotel we stayed in Slovenia and one of the top two or three in all of 4 former Yugoslav countries we visited.
If you get a decent deal, have a car, and willing to walk a bit, you can't go wrong here.
On our first afternoon, we decided to walk around the lake. What views of Bled Island and Bled Castle on a clear day! We arrived back after dinner and after dark, and got a little lost trying to find our way up to the hotel from the lake shore (near the boathouse), so make sure you know where you are going if you set out on foot. For photographers, you have to go about half way around the lake to enjoy great late afternoon light. From the hotel itself, early morning or late afternoon would be the time not to have the sun in front of you, since the hotel is on the north/northeast corner of the lake. To be able to see Bled Castle, which lies east of the hotel, you'd have to move around the lake anyway.
