“A good hotel, a great view, and a fine restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2010

If you are debating, as we did, whether to stay in town or in this hotel on a hill overlooking the lake and its island, choose the latter. It is a five minute drive into town and parking was easy. The lake is lovely, but the town itself isn't all that charming. Our room was quite large, had a balcony and a perfect view. The surprise was the restaurant, which was first-rate. We ate there both nights of our stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were extremely disappointed. Although we had a good view of the lake ( Its about a 15 min walk away for the fit. Plenty of steps to get there ) and the food at dinner is very good , and the waiters professional, potential guests to this hotel should be aware of the following.
We booked a double room well in advance of our stay. On arrival we received a lukewarm welcome from the female manager and were given a tiny double room ( the trip advisor reviewer who was told that all the rooms were twin was " misinformed"). There was hardly any space to move around in. Our room had a connecting door to another which we initially thought was part of our room but it was locked and there was nobody ocupying it. When we went to bed that night and turned off the light the smoke alarm directly above the bed could only be described as a UFO. Every 8 seconds it emitted an extremely bright green flourescent light that literally lit up the entire room ALL night long. I eventually fell asleep with my head buried under the covers. A previous guest had stuck a plaster over the centre of it but it made no difference. The following night a guest moved into our adjoining room and he kept his tv on untill 3.30 am untill his partner arrived knocking on his door and animated conversation followed. He didnt have his tv on especially loud but had we not had a connecting door at least some of this sound would have been blocked
We were leaving the following day so before breakfast I went to complain. The same female manager told me that the room we stayed in was a familly room for children which is why we had a connecting door. I told her that we were obviously not a familly but a couple and that the connecting door was locked . I told her about the guest whos tv had been on untill 3.30am and having to listen to him and his partner untill the small hours. I especially complained about the flashing smoke alarm and she claimed when I questioned her that all the rooms had the same smoke alarm above their bed and that for security reasons it had to be above the bed. I find that impossible to believe given that some of the more positive reviews of the hotel failed to mention such a enormous disturbance, and that I had travelled extensively and any smoke alarm in previous hotel bedrooms flashed discreetly if at all, and were placed away from the bed. Throughout my complaint she just kept smiling and saying " I know". An utterly obtuse response. I left her to think about a more appropriate response and after breakfast returned to checkout. Not only did we receive no apology, we were charged full price, even going so far as to charge 2euro for a water from the mini bar. The hotel was very quiet , at least on our first night so there is no excuse for the poor accomodation. I would not stay at his hotel again and if you are staying here just make sure that they dont make a fool out of you. Just as an aside because we were travelling off season in 2 previous hotels we were upgraded gratis!!

Lake Bled is a beautiful area, one of my favorite in the world and you get a lovely view of the area. Our room was had a balcony and a nice view of the island. The room had air conditioning which was blissful in the hot July summers. We had a very nice selection of foods for breakfast. We had dinner one type at the restaurant in the hotel and it was wonderful!! A meal to remember. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The wait staff at the restaurant was very professional.

We stayed in Bled on a tour of Croatia, Slovenia and Trieste, Italy. The hotel was great! The location was perfect - steps away from the lake, with great balcony views of the town. The food was fantastic! If you stay here - I highly recommend dining in the restaurant. The hotel is small, so the hotel staff is very attentive and helpful. The rooms are "no frills" but clean and very comfortable. We were very happy with the selection and the scenery in Bled is breathtaking.

We stayed here as the last leg on our trip through Croatia, Italy and Slovenia and stayed because of the good reviews. We certainly weren't disappointed, the hotel is relatively small so we were well looked after, the food in the restaurant was really fantastic and it's a wonderful quiet base to go exploring the lake and other sights around Bled.

One slight improvement, I found the breakfast didn't quite live up to the quality expected throughout the rest of the stay but overall would thoroughly recommend!

We chose this hotel based on the previous reviews and were really satisfied. Our room was spacious and nicely furnitured, the beds were very convenient, we had amazing view from the balcon (3rd floor). The staff was very kind, spoke very good English and German. The dinners were excellent, sometimes I would say even masterpieces (though I would have preferred sometimes chicken instead of veal). Maybe the breakfast could be a bit upgraded with vegetables and with more choices and also the re-filling of the empty trays could be more careful. But these are minor things, we appreciated the hotel very much.

Love, love, loved the location of this hotel. Removed from the busy hustle and bustle of Bled. Quick easy walk down to the lake at the yacht club (5 minutes). We enjoyed dinner here one evening and it was superb. Staff are very helpful and personable. Beautiful view of the lake from our spacious room. Can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel!
