Stopped in for an impromptu meal for two mid afternoon having eaten there a number of times in the past. Starting with our arrival; we were eventually greeted by the lone waiter and given our seating at a window seat.
There was a single coatstand for the 7 or 8 tables in that part of the restaurant, which was fine for just the two of us .. but quickly became inadequate when a group booking arrived and had to place the coats on top of our. Sadly, the waiter did not attempt to organise things a little better.
For our meal, the first observation was that the menu had been quite drastically streamlined, offering a pretty standard range of dishes, but now also pizza (which can also be bought at the pizza place next door).
We opted for one of each of the soups on offer that day, the mushroom soup was reasonable but the beef soup was quite tasteless. For the main courses, we chose a chicken dish - which we were informed was vacuum sealed and cooked in water bath, but which had obviously been over-seared or pan fried to the point of being hard and chewy on the thin edge. The second main was gnocchi in sauce, which was better. The open bottle of wine offered was just ok.
Given the high standard that Promenada is known for, this was a disappointing visit from the point of view of choice and quality of the dishes, with prices too high for what is on offer. I do hope that they can regain the high standards again, but until then I won't be returning.
