“Gorgeous views of the Bled Lake and the castle”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Stayed here as part of a group tour. Excellent location. Our room had a magnificent view of the lake and the castle. They had music playing by the lake in the evenings so we danced to the music in the balcony of our room. Extremely romantic. The best part is that they actually sang some so GS in Spanish and one of them happened to be one of my favorites. The hotel is located close to everything. One can take nice walks around the lake and visit churches, shops, markets, etc. one of the most beautiful stays during our Croatia-Slovenia tour.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake/castle view

It was a nice experience. The hotel was clean and good service. The food was very good and you can eat as much as you want. The view was excellent and very near the lake. I recommend this hotel when visiting Lake Bled.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter in evening.

On arrival we were given a warm welcome and show round straight away. The buffet dinner was superb with an array of hot and cold foods and mouth watering desserts .the waiting staff were all courteous. Our room had a beautiful view over lake bled and julians alps. The rooms were really clean and were serviced everyday. All room amenities were topped up daily. All in all it was a marvellous experience and will definetely return in the near future.

I'll start with some basic facts and tips. The toiletries provided are pretty basic so perhaps bring your own. There are opportunities advertised in your bathroom to pay for extra items. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in your room so expect to pay for it. Expect to pay for water at 2.80 euros for about 500ml and be refused tap water at dinner. Also no tea and coffee provided after the dinner buffet. You would have to go to their perfectly pleasant cafe across the road. That has great staff, great food and great views across the lake. Don't expect peace and quiet at night if you have upgraded for the excellent lake view. The air conditioner is weak so you need to open the balcony door at night. This is the busy end of the resort and many young people like to shout out, chat and laugh in the small hours of the morning as they pass by. We were on the 3rd floor, 325 after we arrived early and not given the choice to wait for our originally booked room on the 4th floor (419) which reception then failed to inform the restaurant. This was important because they give you the same table each night with your room number on it although it's a free-for-all at breakfast. You can ask to change tables if you don't like being in the main route to the buffet but that can only happen if it is not busy - its always busy! Expect coach loads of people and a hectic dinner which is only available between 7pm and 9pm. Best to leave it to about 8pm to avoid the rush. This however makes buying a perfectly decent bottle of Slovenian wine (which is always good) a chore as you feel that you are gulping it down (with your expensive water) to get out on time. Expect inconsistent quality and range of food - some of it very good and some pretty poor. Expect some really nice, understanding restaurant staff who have to deal with complaints that they are powerless to change and never seem to be resolved by management and also expect some not so well trained in the art of customer relations. Bring a hairdryer if you don't have short hair as the one provided is poor. The maid service was surprisingly bad with dusty furniture our entire stay and a glass not removed from my bedside and returned to the bathroom and long dark hairs on the bathroom floor when we arrived. The gym is fine with spectacular views form the top floor. There is free wi-fi which is good. Rooms are a bit stark with no pictures on the wall but the holiday is mainly about getting out and about around Bled which is terrific. This hotel is clearly geared for transient holiday makers, not treated as individuals and so is perfectly good for that purpose and therefore good enough for its type. However, as far as service goes it does not feel like a 4 star hotel. Treat it as a comfortable base and enjoy your holiday.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a lake view but go a high as you can.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your constructive comments. Your feedback will certainly be shared with our team and will serve as a basis for potential improvements.

I have also taken note on your comments and would like to reply the following:
- Toiletries are prescribed by international standards for hotels.
- Regarding the kettle - every guest can get one in their room, no problem, just ask at the reception desk and they will bring it to you.
- The hotel is situated in the center of Bled and in high season there really is a great number of guests in Bled. I am afraid this is something to consider in any tourist popular destination.
- I am very sorry that you found our hotel just" good enough" and perceived the quality and range of food as inconsistent, we will certainly do our best to improve all the details that you missed.

I hope we can stil welcome you here again in the future,

With warm regards,

Mojca Krašovec

Stayed here as part of a Gate 1 13 day tour of Croatia, Slovenia and Venice. The Hotel is absolutely in a gorgeous location. The hotel staff was top notch and the food was great. The hotel sits right on Lake Bled and has a walking trail all the way around the lake. We took a horse and buggy ride around the lake which was fun. I would definitely stay at this hotel again whether on a tour or on my own. This was a perfect location for those who just want to get out and walk the town.

This hotel reclining close to the Lake is most definitely past it's used by date! We would place it in 2-3 star only! Our room overlooked the Lake which is beautiful! The weather was hot and our air conditioner poor or maybe just old too! The room was drab and dated! Our curtains had blood spatters down the front which fortunately the room cleaners changed or cleaned the following day!
There are no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room! The bathroom although clean, was 'awkward' . The toilet roll holder was in an impossible to reach position on the wall and the bidet not working properly. The bathroom door only shut if you slammed it hard! The buffet breakfast was good with varieties in choice. Staff were helpful with the exception of one young man on reception. WiFi was available for free which was probably the only plus. It is centrally located. I have stayed in this hotel once before 5 years ago. The noise level at night was dreadful with a casino/night club located nearby! It was just as bad this time! Never again!

Room Tip: Give it a miss!

Dear guest,

thank you very much for your feedback.

I am sorry that your stay at our hotel was not as pleasant as you would expect. We will certainly take note of your comments and discuss the necessary improvements. As for the hotel rooms, they were renovated not long ago (last rooms about 6 months ago). Every guests can also get a kettle in their room easily, you just need to ask for it at the reception desk and they bring it to the room.
Hotel is indeed situated in the center of Bled and in high season there’s many guests all over Bled. I am afraid we can only control the noise from the streets to certain extent.

I am also very sorry that you found one of our reception staff unhelpful since we put a lot of emphasis on our hospitality and helpfulness. I have already spoken to the stuff to make sure it should not happen again.

Hope you will stil visit Bled again and maybe stay at some other Sava Hotels & Resorts hotel.

There is no air conditioning, which really isn't needed in the alpine area , this hotel is quite good. Location is excellent right on the lake, in middle of town, so options for dining close by. Breakfast buffet was good quality, staff friendly and very helpful. Only downside was our room was at the front of hotel and some nights music from across the road could be heard quite loudly in our room.
If possible ask for a room that overlooks the lake at the back and you will not have the noise.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking lake are quieter .
