Vila Bled is an exceptional place to stay while on your visit to Lake Bled. The estate is located right off Lake Bled with stunning views of the island and the castle. Being it is on it's own estate and located just a short jaunt from the city center, it is quiet and peaceful. If you're looking for a place to stay that offers relaxation, tranquility, and also activity, this is the perfect place for you. We stayed in room 305 which had a balcony facing Lake Bled. The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed and views of the island and castle. The two downfalls with the room was that there is no water boiler so you can't have any tea or coffee in the room. Additionally, there is no air conditioning and in July it gets quite warm so expect to leave your windows open all night, allowing a few bugs to enter. Being the room looked over the lake, the room stayed very quiet, thus the only downfall to the sleeping conditions was the heat. The bathroom was clean and offered a hair dryer and some great smelling bath products.

The hotel offers complimentary bike & boat rentals thus offering an active stay if you'd like. We took the bikes out for a ride to the Vintgar Gorge, around town and then back into town for dinner one evening. Note that the bikes do not have lights on them, so they aren't the safest to use once the sun sets. The row boats are nice to take out to get great views of all the sites the lake has to offer, or just to relax in the sun. There is no time limit for the rental, so you don't need to rush. The hotel also has it's own private beach which isn't a sandy beach, rather a concrete patio with comfortable lounging chairs. Though there is a private section blocked off in the water for hotel guest use only. The beach of course offers stunning views of all the lakes sites.

The location of the hotel is perfect. You can either walk into town which takes about 20 minutes or you can bike which cuts the time in half. We found it hard to drive into town as parking is quite limited. But with the waterfront path around the lake, it's a really nice bike ride or walk to the center, so I discourage the driving :) Not only are you close to Bled's city center, but you are also a short drive away from Lake Bohinj which is another serene and gorgeous lake with lots of hiking, boating, biking and other activities available.

There are quite a few options for breakfast, but if you're vegetarian or Gluten Free, then you don't have as many options. In fact, being a vegetarian in Slovenia is tough. We had hard times even just finding salads anywhere we went. So the breakfast here is the same, lots of local cold cut meats and cheeses, and of course pastries. The 2nd morning I actually brought my own lettuce to breakfast that I had picked up from the market so I could at least get some vegetables in for the day! The first day they offered us freshly made eggs, but the 2nd morning we didn't get so lucky.

The service at Vila Bled was phenomenal. The receptionist guy (can't remember his name) was the happiest, jolliest man we met on the entire trip. He made us feel very welcome and always put a smile on our faces.

Vila Bled was by far our favorite hotel we stayed during our time in Slovenia. If we ever make it back to Lake Bled, we will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room. The extra cost is worth having the superior view of the lake!

We called in for afternoon refreshment when out walking. The large imposing building in extensive grounds overlooking Lake Bled was previously a favourite retreat of President Tito’s. We enjoyed the peace and lovely views from the terrace along with good coffee and delicious 'Bled' cake.

We were upgraded to a suite which was huge. We loved this property because it is historic, quiet yet well located on the lake, nice ambience, well done rooms. Our room was fantastic and I thought the furnishings and room was well renovated to maintain its historical relevance. Clean room, nice linens, bed a little hard but we had a fantastic sleep. The public rooms are great, especially on the first floor, the ballroom with the communist propaganda painting, Tito's desk, conference room etc but also the restaurant has a wonderful location. Our breakfast was lovely. Nice staff. Internet was terrible, wifi was working but band width was insufficient. There is no air conditioning but it was cool at night so no problem for us. You can have the windows open at night for fresh air.

We did not actually stay here. We took a boat from this property over to the church island. After visiting the church we ate at the hotel restaurant---a local delicacy----"creme cake"----which was delicious with coffee and sat overlooking the magnificent Lake Bled. I have read the comments here about the rooms. I cannot speak to that. However, we toured the rest of the hotel and found it to be quite lovely. Enjoyed the history behind it as Tito's former palace. We didn't sleep here but really enjoyed the time we did spend here.

Titos old Summer residence now run by the Slovenian Government the Vila is screaming for a remodeling job. Which the professional and friendly staff are very aware of and do their very best to address. The rooms are serviceable but drearily 1960's, even the TV was an old 1960's cube. Much to my surprise I found the beds very comfortable and slept like a baby. And when you look out of the window at the view, or walk in the Park (beautifully maintained) or have breakfast (fabulous) under the porticoed arches overlooking the Lake - you forget all the things that need upgrading - and just love being there. Leave your judgements behind and just enjoy this pearl on lake Bled. I am sure in time the lustre will be back.

Room Tip: get a balcony room overlooking the lake. Avoid the upgrade to a suite unless you like walking throug...

Have been several times - over four visits. After all this is a Palace.

The last visit the room was SO disappointing - size, view, bathroom etc - but immediately this was addressed. Very efficient.

Evening meal was first class along with selection of wine - not rushed and a real treat.

Really worth a weekend trip - relaxing, beautiful, meals gourmet - BUT make sure you have a beautiful room to go with this experience.

Would return - Yes

Room Tip: Not really because we had to ask to move ! SELECT

We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of September and loved it! The location is about a 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive into town. The location on the lake however is superb! Just across from the island you have a gorgeous view of the church. Boats and bicycle are available at no charge, breakfast is included and quite good.

The rooms could use some updates to them, however I sort of like them just the way they are, as they give you a nice feel for what the "Tito" days of residence here may have been like and it would be a shame to ruin the whole historic significance of the hotel.

Staff was incredibly nice and helpful! Will definitely look forward to a return visit in the future!
