“Lake view - BEWARE!!!”
Reviewed 15 September 2007

We booked this hotel only because it was cheaper then any other hotel around. I don't care much about my room, as long it is clean I am happy. When booking we paid extra for a lake view.
When we got to the hotel we got room which was on the first floor and the room itself wasn't the worst I've seen but definitely not nice. It was quite outdated and bathroom was from 50's but even that I could do with.
But then we opened the curtains to see our lake view. It did seem suspicious to me that the room was on the 1st floor and lake view because of the hotel in front of it but hey... Your lake view for which you pay 15 euros extra is non existant. All you can see of the lake is ttiny strip of what you only guess is the lake throught building's accross swimming pool. And that was it. Needless to say we were extremely dissapointed and asked for another room. Receptionist wasn't not of too much help. He was more insterested in chatting on MSN. He showed us another room which had a bit better but definetely not a lake view, you could see some lake but only if you are really really tall and turn your head at 120° angles. We just decided to leave it and find better accomodation.
We went to hotel Golf on top of the hill and had a lovely stay with stunning view. Of course it was much more expensive but if you come for a short romantic stay believe me it is worth the money.
All in all I would say if the lake view doesn't bother you and you don't care about batroom's 50's decor then it is kind of ok as it is quite cheap hotel.
I wouldn't recommend it tho cause you can't experience Bled in it's full beauty staying in hotel Trst.

As we were invited to a wedding in Bled, we tried to get a room near to the wedding venue. It turned out Trst was available.

The hotel is near to beautifull lake Bled; there's a road and anoter hotel between Trst and the lake. Main hotel facilities like spa and breakfast are shared with that other hotel, but that is actually an asset as the other hotel is more luxurious. Mind you; when having breakfast it's not so much the food that will give you this feeling of luxury (it's not very good), but the view of the lake and its castle.

Basically, Hotel Trst has a lot of potential. We mustn't forget that Bled is in Slovenia; former part of Yugoslavia so untill recently still behind the iron curtain. I think now is the time for Trst to move on! Refubish the rooms (they're very tired/outdated), make sure the reception is staffed (because it hardly ever is), install 21st century equipment in rooms like flatscreens, airco and proper electronic locks etc. One thing that has already been updated is the pricetag. The hotel isn't exactly cheap.

When using one of the complimentary rowing boats, or while sunbading at the partner hotel's lido, you'll get my drift as to what potential is available.. Marvellous views are already there (get a lakeside room!)

Returned to the Trst for August Bank Holiday (one of the few places we have returned).

Again, we had a lovely time. This year we flew with Easyjet from Stansted - flight was an hour late outbound and half an hour late inbound.

Tansferred via Globtour (45 euros) and the journey took about an hour.

The Trst has not changed much - rooms are still comfortable but nothing exceptional (bathrooms are kind of old fashioned and you have to hold the shower head), and breakfast is still taken at the "Panorama" restaurant adjoining the Hotel Toplice opposite.
I think there are now a few more English channels on the room TV (CNN, Sky News, a movie channel etc.).

Bled remains spectacular. This year we did a bike tour (free to guests of the "Sava" group - of which the Trst is part), and also took a horse and carriage ride (30 euros up to the Castle). Also, it is a real bonus that guests of the Trst can now also use the leisure club at the Hotel Golf, which has now joined the "Sava" group. This includes an indoor pool with slide, jacuzzis and outdoor pool and terrace with views across the town.

It is also still possible to use the lake Lido at the Toplice, and get free hire of rowing boats to visit the island. As previously, entry to the Toplice spa pool and saunas in extra.

We were fortunate with the weather and had four lovely days, albeit it was raining heavily when we arrived on the Thursday evening.

Overall good value for a good standard three star (and use of facilities at the 4 and 5 star adjacent Sava hotels).

I had been reading the reviews here on this hotel before i booked and had mixed feelings about it....
It was the cheapest place I had found so that's why I went for it..

The hotel itself is located behind the Grand Hotel (same owners) and you'll be lucky to get a lake view from it but it's not as if your gonna stay in the hotel looking out your window all day.
The room was average size for a double room and had a tv, fridge & safety deposit box.
The bathroom was a bit dated but did the job, although the shower clogged really easily.
Room was always kept clean each day.
There wasn't always someone at the desk which was a bit funny but I just left and took my key when ever I needed it. (guess thats why there was a safety deposit box)
When checking out you have to go to the Grand hotel to do so but its a minute walk if even that...Not a big deal.

Overall I was happy with the hotel. Great location beside the lake and room was above avg..
Would stay again...

The rooms are fine. There is enough space and almost everything you need is there. Beware however when checking out. Allthough we needed to check in at the reception of the Trst hotel, apparently we had to check out at the rececption of the Toplice hotel across the street. We had a long journey ahead so we were in a hurry. When we checked in the day before we specifically asked about checking out early, which was "no problem". However also "no word" about having to check out elsewhere. So we waited in vain for someone to show up at the reception of the Trst hotel in the morning. An American couple almost missed their flights because of this. Finally when someone did show up (the same reception employee which checked us in the day before) his attitude was quite indifferent. Just "you have to check out in hotel Toplice", no apologies for not informing us about that when we asked about checking out early.
Apart from this, every time we entered the hotel the reception employee was not there, which makes you wonder about the safety of your properties. A thief could very easily take a couple of keys and enter the rooms. Finally do not expect the breakfast actually to be ready at 7.00 AM as promised. When enjoying a holiday it does not matter whether breakfast is available 15 minutes later than expected. However when in a hurry, it is a little annoying. In a hotel of this price range such things should be ok.
The breakfast itself was excellent.
