If you are in decent shape and have a few hours to spare the gorge is worth a visit. Photographs do not do it justice.

Visited the gorge on the 1st July. It is quite a different way of viewing a gorge as they have constructed a boardwalk around the rock faces of the gorge. It is quite spectacular and well worth a visit. Wear good walking shoes and keep a good watch on your kids cause there are some big drops and slippery paths. I really enjoyed it and it was nice and cool. Dont pushbike there like we did unless you are really fit, I think there is a bus from Bled to the gorge for about 2 euro's one way.

It's such a short drive from Bled, worth the trip. We went mid afternoon and there were hardly any others. The path was dry, easy walking. Distance to the other end was just over 2 klms, but the best scenery is in the first half.

This gorge is sure worth its fame. The infrastructure built to accommodate the walk along it is good, and we acknowledged this traveling with a 3 year old who walked and ran it through. The entrance fee is token compared to the sights, the river whooshing down, fish to spot, a few spots to climb on the rocks to touch the icy waters. Its worth a visit especially on a hot day. Walk a little further and there is a pizzeria 1.5 km off the gorge, replenish and walk back. We recommend renting bikes from Bled- one will not regret getting this way back to Bled after the walk.

This is one of many fantastic Slovenian river gorges. The thing about this one is that the others require some fairly strenuous climbing and scrambling while Vintgar has no significant elevation changes and has a wonderfully maintained wooden walkway along the length of the river. Hint: get there first thing to avoid the crowds who will slow your progress and ruin your photos. A Must See
