I chose to stay at Reka Hisa purely because of the large amount of good reviews I had read on TA and I was not disappointed. Clive and Myrna have been the most welcoming and helpful hosts right from the moment we booked our room. Clive gave me some advice on email even before we landed in Slovenia because we were facing some problems getting our visas.
Clive is an awesome chef. We used to look forward to dinner every night. If you're checking into this B&B, avoid eating lunch because the three course meal at night is quite filling. The room rates include breakfast and dinner so if it seems a little more expensive than other places...according to my calculations...it's not. Purely because your food is taken care of and you're guaranteed to get a really good meal every day.
The rooms face the river so it's a pleasure to wake up every morning to its sound. They are large enough to accommodate two adults but three would be a crowd. They are also cleaned everyday.
For me the best part of the trip was to sit around the large table every night and chat with fellow travellers. I think that's a very good concept!
The only thing you have to keep in mind if you choose to stay here is the fact that it is half way between Lake Bled and Bohinj. The bus stop is 10 minutes away and buses leave every hour. So you have to make sure that you leave on time if you're heading into town because you will have to wait an extra hour if you don't. Also make sure you follow the exact directions to the place when you first get here because some of the inter city bus drivers are not familiar with it and will drop you at the wrong bus stop. (It happened to us! Luckily, we had our phones and were able to get in touch with Myrna who promptly sent someone to pick us up.)
The advantage of its location was that my husband and I were able to visit both Lake Bohinj and Bled in one day. It's also on the country side so it's nice to stay away from the touristy city centre.
Lastly, we absolutely adore Patrick (Clive and Myrna's Great Dane). Yes, he's huge but he's the most loving and docile dog you could ever meet. He kept us entertained with his antics.
Without a doubt, if we ever come back to Slovenia, we will be checking into Reka Hisa.
