I have been visiting this restaurant for nearly 20 years. Through the years the restaurant has changed from a local hangout with delicious food and a nice variety of home made schnaps to a tourist more tourist orientated place. The atmosphere is still there. You still see the locals hanging in front of the place, but the prices have soared.
It is getting expensive.

I would recommend you this restaurant to get a genuine taste of our cuisine.

“Go there with empty stomach!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

As the entire region is very touristic, there is basically no chance to find a hidden, not touristic place to have some local food. So we had to choose one of those in the neighborhood... We tried this, beside that there was a huge and very loud speaker at the entrance with some "sramli" music but in Slovenian. Anyway, we finally beat our disappointment and sat down at the terrace, where a local guy was singing the music, reading the script from his laptop. It was really funny. :)

We ordered some local food and some appetizer This was a mistake. Now it's not because of the quality, because it was really great -all fresh any yummy- but because we did not expect the amount of food we have to deal with!

So if you want to have some great less touristic-localish food and you're really hungry, come here!

“Satisfies a Mountainous Hunger!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

There is only one restaurant in the beautiful village of Stara Fuzina on the shore of Lake Bohinj and this is it. Our group of ten walkers, being partial to a glass or two of wine with dinner, were somewhat restricted in our movements and so ate here on six of the seven nights we spent at Stara Fuzina. The restaurant offers a variety of grilled meat dishes together with an excellent selection of hearty soups and stews. I would recommend the venison stew in particular. The house wines served by the litre are adequate and the service was excellent. The meals are substantial and should satisfy the heartiest appetite. Nevertheless after four nights of much the same we all craved a change in venue. This is a spectacular part of Slovenia which offers wonderful walks in the beautiful Julian Alps.

“Healthy Slovenian peasant food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2013

I was there with my Russian friends, who are somehow very picky when it comes to restaurant food, but it was surprisingly positive experience. They were delighted with peasant "entourage" and food was simple but tasty. Total cost of lunch was so cheap, that they take photo of a bill together with a restaurant from outside. Portions are huge, food is fair, we did not wait too much for food and daily soup was excellent. Had some remarks about cabbage, but nothing serious!
