We stayed here for two weeks in May.
From start to finish we were made to feel very welcome by Alenka, her family and staff. This is a small hotel well run but it is home from home. If you need anything all you need to do is ask.
We stayed in room 205 and the hotel was very busy when we arrived. Alenka offerred to move us into a different room after the weekend. However we declined her offer as the room was suitable for purpose and we slept very well. I was the only person who did not hear the thunderstorms during the night. The room was cleaned every day and we had no complaints at all.
We were on half board and the food was really good with a choice of four main courses so there was always something that you could be tempted with. Slava was a joy and nothing was too much trouble for her even when we kept her up on a late night drinking session! She would not leave until we did and I felt a bit guilty about that.
Lake Bohinj is magical. My husband is still editing his photographs and they are some of the best that he has taken. I love the Slovenian attitude to ecology we can all learn a lesson.
Lake Bled is lovely to visit but as a resort I would not like to have stayed there.
We both thought that Ljublijana was fabulous. It is so clean and relaxed it did not have that city feel to it and I felt very safe.
We met some lovely people in the hotel, namely Jo & Don and Brian. They are all keen birdwatchers and this hotel is ideal for that. I found it fascinating and so much so that I requested a pair of binoculars for my birthday!
Our only gripe was Thomson's. We did not see a rep from the time that we left the airport to the time that we departed. This was known as the the rarest, lesser spotted rep. We were given lots of information from Alenka and also the Inghams rep so it did not detract from our holiday overall. When you think how big a company TUI is we expected a higher level of service because they should know what they are about by now. In our case it was not customer service. I just hope that they have now got their act together.

We arrived at 2 am unannounced by our travel agent and woke the son from his bed. Eventually got to our room with good sized comfortable beds and wardrobe. TV and fridge nice balcony overlooking a natural haven for birds. An english birder there on holiday commented that it was the best garden in europe for bird varieties.
Mum returned the next day. Alenka did above and beyond to see to our every need. The massage in the treatment rooms in the cellar was fantastic. Rooms were kept clean but our shower could have had the drainage attended to. But then again we never alerted them as we were to busy getting ready to go out and enjoy the country side, mountains , forests, and of course Lake Bohinj itself. The Kristal is nicely positioned just outside Ribcev 5 minute walk. From the entrance each morning you were greeted by the most dramatic view over towards Mount Triglav - stunning positioning.
We just loved this hotel and its kind and attentive staff there to make every effort to make your stay a pleasant one.

Another excellent holiday had at the Kristal Hotel. Having stayed at the Kristal many times before I felt it was time to say what an excellent hotel it is. The staff are all very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble . Being keen birdwatchers we are never disappointed with the variety of species of birds visiting the Kristal Hotels garden with its water-feature. Hawfinch, Crested Tit and Marsh Tit as well as many others. The whole area is superb for birding and photography.

We picked the hotel in Slovenia purely for the bargain price ! We normally ski in France or Austria but went with the attitude may be rubbish, may be fab , and have to say we were def pleased with our choice ! The hotel is lovely, warm and welcoming, all the staff could not do enough for us, we were on the 3rd floor with a balcony looking out the rear of the property and it was beautiful. Shower lovely and hot each night and bed's were to die for !Food was very good quality, i am a vegetarian and a fussy one at that but they accomodated me with what ever i asked for, and hubby enjoyed all his choices, he especially liked the beer which is half price compared to France (bonus ) Kat the Crystal rep was superb, the best we have had, she was always there, made sure we got on the bus each morning bless her and always had a smile. We did a candle lit walk with her one night which may sound a bit naff, but we had a brill time, probably something to do with the mad Scottish woman and her husband who came with us ! walking through the forest in the snow with just a flame to guide us .The weather was great, we did have one day where we could not ski because of a white out, but we had fresh snow while there which i love being the big kid i am .The skiing is good for average skiers, think if very advanced you may get a little bored but you know how many runs there are before you go if you do your home work. If you are looking for nightlife dont go here, as it revolves around the hotel but had a comfy bar with sofa's so all we wanted , the lake is beautiful and we felt the most scenic place we have skied.
Well done all the staff at Krystal Hotel, keep up the good work,
Alli and Michael

We stayed here as part of a package deal and based our decision largely on our budget. However, we would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to ski at nearby Vogel or explore Lake Bohinj.
The rooms were a reasonable size with good showers in the bathrooms. There was a good choice of food served both at breakfast and for the evening meal and it was all delicious.
We were given complimentary ski bus passes and had the option of two buses in the morning and two buses back from Vogel in the afternoon. These times fitted in with ski school so that was easy, especially when the bus stopped outside the hotel.
It took about 5-10 mins to walk down to the lake where there were some other hotels, a travel agency, a supermarkets and an ice rink (did not go to it though).
What I really liked about this hotel were the extra touches. The hotel staff were all excellent, they couldn't do enough for us - we did not hesitate to ask them for assistance or recommendations through the stay. When we arrived back from a day's skiing there were complimentary hot drinks, soup and bread (4-6pm) before dinner. The sauna (1 hour per room to be booked in advance) was lovely, we certainly wanted longer than our allocated hour. I also booked a massage which I would highly recommend.
Overall, the hotel was great for our ski holiday and would make a perfect base for anyone wanting to ski or go walking in the local area.

Stayed a week as part of a first choice ski trip. Staff where very friendly and helpful, nice little hotel, would happily stay there again. Good selection of food severed every night. When ever one showers at once temperature can vary so be warned! There isn't much in the local area but was easy to get to the ski resort. Only a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest shop.
