We needed a simple, cheap place to spend the night in Bovec, and Martinov Hram is just that. Clean, comfortable, centrally located and at a decent price. We were met by the owners daughter, who was really kind and helpful, despite our late arrival (and interrupting her dinner). The rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable. At breakfast (which was a sad display of dry, white bread and bad coffee - although with a good omelet) the waitress (possibly the owner, actually) wasn't very forthcoming, didn't know much english and disappeared when we needed her help. But in all; a good nights sleep at a reasonable price.

This hotel has a very central location in Bovec but so do quite a few other places (Stari Kovac; hotel Kanin, hotel Alp and dozens of private appartments for rent). Readers, please don't get hooked up on the fact that this is the only central place, it is not! The room was ok and was quietly located.
At the check-in we were met by an arrogant blonde girl who urged us not to miss the breakfast. She also didn't say when the check out time was and when asked, arrogantly added that it was at 10h.
We unfortunately have to agree with other writers that the breakfast was poor, for e.g. The bread seemed to be from yesterday. And the service was not welcoming at all. The lady could not speak English and all she wanted was to push us out of the place as soon as possible (while we were eating breakfast even though it was well before the check-out time). For the record, we showed up at the check out time at 10h sharp, to be met with an angry face (as though it was too late).
It does not seem that this hotel values their guests. This is strange because Slovenian people in general are very welcoming and nice.

On a positive note, we had dinner in the hotel the night before and the food was very good and the service from the ladies with dark hair was very good.

Martinov hram is one of the most known family run restaurants in Bovec, Slovenia. It is situated in a center of the town Bovec, not far from the Italian border. Food is lovely and I like that they serve typical Bovec dishes like frika, čompe and other local things.

The only thing which I can't praise is their service or better said the odd attitude of the waitress, who is owner as well. Before you enter to the restaurant you have to know already if you are only going to drink or eat a desert, then you are not allowed to eat it in their outside part. Whenever I wanted to order something more, I got an answer "Wait a bit".

As a guest, I missed much more typical Slovenian hospitality.

Breakfast was poor: the bread was stale (despite there being a bakery directly over the road from the hotel); milk was served out of a carton which was passed from table to table. Also the waitress was not at all helpful bordering on rude. Unlike another reviewer, we we weren't bothered by road noise or noise from the restaurant. However we were disturbed by the noise of other guests walking up the stairs and on the landing. We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel. room was fine and clean.

This restaurant was amongst those recommended to us by our receptionist at the hotel we were staying in and I think one of two actually opened in Bovec at 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening. We were really pleased - the waiters were polite, the interior was nice and homey and the food was great. I really recommend trying the grilled vegetables - those, apart from the usual chopped ones, were thinly sliced, thus properly cooked and very very tasty. The assortment grill plate was also very good, as well as the homemade dessert. Overall nice and satisfying experience.

The hotel is located in the town center. The rooms are clean. The owner (who serves breakfast) seems to be tired of guests and not welcoming (as others felt too). Breakfast is incredibly poor. The hotel has a pretty good restaurant for other meals. There is no elevator. The building used to be a big family house, so it is not in a structure of a hotel, which is nice. The close-by church bells are very loud a few times a day, starting at 7 AM.

Arrived through sleet in Bovec in the middle of the afternoon. Enjoyed a warm, clean and comfortable room before a magnificent evening meal. Next morning, we awoke to a crisp sunny day with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and a picture perfect village.
