“Ask for a Room with a Nice View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2012

My wife and I went in late September and this place was slightly cheaper than the other hotels. (tip: try asking for a 15 or 20% discount) We asked for a room with a nice view and got a corner suite with a balcony. Waking up to the fabulous view was magical. Though decor, furniture, carpets etc were a bit dated but the view definitely made up for it. The location was convenient, free parking, all around a good stay. And the double bed was not two twins put together... definitely a big plus in this part of the world.

Room Tip: Ask for discount, and a corner room with the view.

This Hotel promises much from the Bar , outside eating area and lobbey area. It is clear that much money has been spent in these areas and they look fantastic.

Most staff were very helpful and spoke english, one however was completly out of her depth and decent service was only resumed when one of the living onsite staff came and sorted out the situation.

If you are used to 3/4 star german hotels then you may be a little dissapointed by the rooms, if however youve travelled further to Poland or Hungary then these rooms are perfectly acceptable.

The lifts and stairs are well done out but the corriudors leading to the rooms are dark, the carpets are ill fitting.

The room was clean and tidy, with decent beds and clean bedding, the tv for some reason showed loads of us crime programes.

The carpet again was ill fitting, the mirror fixed to the wall was not straight on the wall.

The curtain rail and surrouned was not fitted upto the window meaning light got in and the douuble glazing let in a little bit of wind, which was slightly annoying.

In the bathroom, some cracked tiles had just been grouted up and not replaced and again the fir and fittings is not what you would expect in a german hotel, however there were lots of towels, shampoo's ect, but my wife tells me the hairdryer was a poor joke.

Everything worked, the shower was hot and powerful and I slept well with very little noise coming from other rooms except doors being slammed shut which echoed down the corridor.

Breakfast was fine hot and tasty food and plenty of it.

We did eat one meal at the Hotel, the service was intally very poor put picked up considerably when the second member of staff arrived to help/take over from the older woman who couldnt cope with about 10-15 persons.

The meal was good and very filling and much enjoyed.

We also had some laundry done by the hotel ( much need on a motorcycle trip) it was done quickly ironed and returned to us for a very reasonable price.

If this review sound a little down, it shouldnt, Slovenia is a fantastic place to visit, with the people freindly, beer and wine cheap and usually excellent service.I get the feeling that Slovenia is new to tourists, the roads are simply fantastic and I will be going again with my wife.

As for the Hotel Alp, 85% of the time is was good, I just get the feeling with a little bit more care and attention the whole Hotel could be so much better.

We have recently returned from a weeks stay in the Alp hotel. We were there with our walking group. The rooms were better than I expected as I don't think the website did them justice. The rooms are adequate in size and spotlessly clean. Our room overlooked the garden which was pleasant except on our last night some residents decided at 1.30am to have a noisy gathering below our window! Having phoned reception the night porter on the second attempt succeeded in persuading them to leave the garden. We were grateful for that as we were leaving at 6.30am.

The staff were very obliging, helpful and pleasant. We arrived on a Sunday and had a delicous lunch in the outer restaurant. That night in the dining room we felt the choice wasn't great but every other night the food was much better, maybe the chef was on a night off!

If I return to Bovec and I hope I do I would have no problem staying in the Alp hotel. We had an amazing holiday there, surrounded by mountains Bovec is a beautiful place with really nice serene people. The river Soca runs through the valley and provides lots of activities for everybody.

We rented bikes and went rafting with 'Sportmix' which is a company less than 2 mins from the hotel, they were excellent to deal with and again very helpful.

It was our first time in Slovenia and it was like a paradise.

We were a company of 4 people and stayed in 2 double rooms for 1 night in July. Our rooms were small, but clear and there was not a fridge in it, neither an air condition. But the weather was fine so it was ok for us. The breakfast was fine and there were a lot of food. We came very late in the night- 23.00 but the receptionist was very kind and everything took less then 3 min. The hotel has a free parking.

We didn't stay in the hotel we only visited the restaurant so I can only comment about that, but I felt it was well worth a mention.
We had the best meal of our holiday here. We happened to be passing through on an excursion and took a chance with this restaurant. I am so glad we did.
We ordered the Alp Plate for two and it was amazing. Easily enough for three with different meats, chips, salad and even pasta on the same platter. Tasty cannot do it justice.
If you find yourself in Bovec my recommendation would definitely be to stop here for a meal.
Enloy!

Having been dumped in the pouring rain at a tour company favourite eating hole, we decided to look elsewhere in this small town and came across the Alp-Hotel. Sevring up good reasonablr priced food is a must for the tourist and this they do. We needed to kill a little time and there was no rush. Nice to be unhurried and appreciated.

We chose hotel Bovec for one night on our trip across the western Balkan. We wanted to ski in the nearby Canin resort, therefore we thought Hotel Alp would be a good option. The price was reasonable - 50 euros for a night in the height of the season sounds okay. The hotel is fine, the decor as in most of the ski hotels from early 90s, a bit retro, but it was clean and comfortable and the service was also allright. The breakfast is good and there is plenty to choose from. I would recommend it. Also, very nice and helpful staff, people in Slovenia are generally very nice as well, so one more reason to visit this lovely country.
