I have stayed at this hotel before so knew what to expect. The service is amazing. The staff are so friendly and polite. The rooms are very comfortable. Double bed, sofa, TV, huge wardrobe, spacious bathroom and a balcony (even though I was on the ground floor).
Food was varied and very good quality, theres even a kids station so they can help themselves! Breakfasts are delicious with so much to choose from, you could easily spend 2 hours just having breakfast!
The London tea room is a nice cosy place for a coffee. Their Hot Chocolate is to die for! And fresh cakes every day. Speedy service, always with a smile.
I would recommend this hotel to all ages. Its right in the middle of the village, 5 minutes to the bus stop, 2 minutes to the slopes and swimming pool (in Hotel Larix).

Hotel busy this year for our end of season break ........(so much so it stayed open until our departure date and we did not get our usual "free transfer" to the Hotel Larix ) due to "Sagarisation" ..........well they seemed to enjoy themselves especially on their final night when the golden oldies danced the night away (well the early evening) to golden oldies whilst the rest of the dining room looked on with amazed amusement.

Our cheap but roomy room included its very own alarm clock due to Kranjska Gora's answer to Big Ben being situated just across the way.

Increased numbers resulted in a little weaving being required round the buffet from time to time. Food generally a little hotter this time and whilst a varied selection was available the quality of the food was variable as well.

Staff fine..........although one did upset my wife when he asked "Are you with Saga ?"
"No certainly not came her reply" (a few years to go before qualification !).

We stayed at this hotel for a week in late September. As a young active couple we found the hotel to be a good base for our holiday.

We paid for a mountain view room and were not disappointed, we had a small 'suite' with a bed and desk in one room, tv, fridge, sofa, chair and wardrobes in the other room. Plus two balconies. The bells did not disturb as, as we enjoy the sounds such as bells and calls to prayer when on holiday.

The staff were friendly and enjoyed a chat and the hotel was accomodating; providing a cold platter, fruit and water when our flight was delayed and if we were late from a trip. The hotel does not have a pool (we knew this when booking) but access to others in the small village.
The food was okay buffet food, we expected no more, good selection and replenised frequently, as vegetarians we were served well.

There were a lot of Saga 'old folks', who were on holiday for a very different reason to us. They did not spoil our holiday - we would not let anyone do that! But they were a little irritating at times due to the large numbers and the treatment that had from staff, many were there to eat, drink and sit. However, we just had a good giggle and enjoyed ourselves!!
It was in our opinion, it is better situated that other hotels in the village to cafes etc and we liked that.
We would go back if we were returning to the resort as the hotel was what we needed it for - sleep, eat and shower!

Have to admit I was expecting more than I got at this hotel. It looks in dire need of a coat of paint from the outside and in my opinion is more a 3 star than 4 star hotel. The food was plentiful and varied but sadly not very good quality. It reminded me of canteen or motorway services food than that of a 4 star hotel. The staff were ok but extremely overworked in the 'restaurant'. The pub bar was closed throughout our stay and the hotel bar was dead. If you do decide to stay here book a room at the back of the hotel. We were at the front and didn't get a decent nights sleep for a whole fortnight because the local church bells chime ever 15 mins 24/7 with extra 'bell practice' at about 7am!! We were ready to burn the damn place down. There was no air con. so some nights windows had to be left open which made the problem even worse. I agree about the Saga louts too - got the impression that they thought it was their hotel and the rest of us had no rights to be there. On the plus side, it was spotlessly clean. In some ways the maids were too eager - they came in our room at 8am and we hadn't even got up!! When we go again we'll go back to the peace of the Kompas Hotel

Hi.,
Stayed at this Hotel last year ( same time ) good mix of Nationalities & ages, every one seemed to have a good friendly time. For this reason my wife & I ( in our late 50's ) returned same week this year, but since then Hotel is now 90 % SAGA clients.
Standards have now dropped & staff very disgruntled ( especially in Restruarant ) by constant moans & groans from "Senior Citizens".
If travelling with Thomson, First Choice, Crystal or Ingams please note if invited to have a "Welcome Drink" on your first night this is then charged to your room.

Good side ... excellent location, quiet hotel at night, very good food & varied choice, bar prices more than surrounding bars but not excessive, eg: 3 EUR large beer , 2.20 EUR for a large coffee.

We holidayed with SAGA and had a wonderful holiday at this hotel. The views are spectacular, the rooms extremely comfortable and clean, so much choice at meal times and very help ful staff. Hotel residents have access to the nearby hotel Larix wonderful swimming pool which was so quiet whilst we were there. The only downfall is the rooms at front of hotel have to put up with the church clock chiming 24hours a day - advise mountain view room. There are walking and cycling paths right from the door for every aptitude with beautiful scenery surrounding you on all these paths. There is a ski lift just a few minutes walk which takes you up to the top of Vitranc mountain along with a toboggan ride for the not so faint hearted. A totally enjoyable experience!

Came here on a package and can't fault it. Great value for money. We had the half board option and found the food very good. Agree with an earlier reviewer that the buffet was sometimes a scrum (some nationalities don't queue!!) but got used to it. There are a lot of kids which means you can't always get on the two computers but that's not too much of a problem.

Our room was kept spotless and we were pleasantly surprised by the array of English tv channels (like Eurosport and BBC Prime) though we had come to bike along the brilliant cycle paths as had some of the other guests. One nice touch was the packed breakfast waiting for us at reception when we left very early as we had a 7.30am flight - very much appreciated and completely unexpected.

The hotel is right in the centre of Kranjska Gora which is great. It's part of a chain so you can get discounts in many places locally on production of your hotel card.
