“Stylish Boutique Hotel”
Reviewed 11 October 2012

We spent two nights at the Cubo. It is well located (a few blocks from the three bridges), stylish with clean rooms. The breakfast was a highlight. I'm rating it a 4 as the AC did not work very well and the days that we were there were warm.

It is on the corner of two busy (noisy) streets so you need to be careful regarding room choice. We rejected a room on the street but instead took a very quiet interior room. The hotel has good WIFI but no gym.

Room Tip: The hotel sits on the corner of two busy streets. Take an interior room if you want to have a quiet...

The Cubo was a wonderful surprise.
If I try to describe the experience in details - It will sound like an "invited review"
We are used to good hotels, yet the Cubo sets a new standard in hospitality, quality and service.
Although ranked as 4 star (due to the size, and lack of "public" facilities) it is 5+ star by any dimention.
If you consider an hotel within this price range - Do not hesitate! It is a fantastic choice and a good value for money.

I chose the Hotel CUBO based on the overwhelming Trip Advisor reviews. There are many hotels out there that will give you a comfortable bed, nice shower, and other amenities...the Hotel CUBO included. What makes the hotel stand apart was the service level. It was the little touches that made the difference...from offering us a complimentary drink of our choice from the bar while they processed our passports to the overwhelming amount of help they gave us to make our visit as enjoyable as possible, the staff of the CUBO went above and beyond. They recommended a great restaurant for us to try, made reservations for us there, and when we sat at our table, the waiter brought out a round of champagne, courtesy of our hotel.

This hotel offers all the great amenities you'd expect from a superior rated hotel (even unexpected ones, like a free minibar, restocked daily), but I've never experienced service level like I did at the CUBO. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ljubljana.

Found the hotel on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. We stayed a couple of nights and then went off to Maribor for a couple of days. Returned to Cubo for our last night.

All as described by others. Also good breakfast choice and very friendly service at breakfast time.

Very helpfully there is a driver to take you back to the airport - don't forget to use him!
[The driving services were also - helpfully - offered to us to get to locations in town, but we chose to walk as it was good weather and we wanted to see the sights en route.]

Room Tip: Worth checking if it is one of the larger or smaller rooms.

We stayed at the Cubo for 3 nights, decamped to Piran for 3 days, and then came back to the Cubo for 2 more nights. We enjoyed the hotel so much the first stay, we wouldn't think of staying elsewhere. On the first stay we were in room 304 with a view of the castle (even lying in bed at night I could see it.) , and our second stay we were in a junior suite number 303 which has the same view from one side. The windows are large and provide plenty of fresh air. Both rooms were very comfortable although as would be expected the suite was very large and had a large round bed. We had a problem with not enough light for reading in the suite, but the hotel remedied that immediately.

We agree with all the positive things others have mentioned so I won't repeat. Not only is the location close to old town, but it is also very close to the performing arts halls. We took the hotels advice on restaurants, and were not disappointed. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent and offers finely prepared entrees and exquisite desserts.

The entire staff want to make your stay perfect, and they want you to be happy. In addition to being so customer oriented they are also very competent.

We arranged for our airport transfers and our trips to Piran and back through the hotel. Two of the three drivers spoke very good English and were informative as well.

Booked this hotel based upon the reviews on TripAdvisor. This is a modern, clean, well appointed hotel conveniently located in Ljubljana. The staff was very professional, courteous and helpful with questions and suggestions on what to see and do in the city. As one of the staff at reception said to us, "it is our job to serve you". The breakfast buffet was delicious. Cheeses, meats, cereals, fruit and breads. You could also order eggs, pancakes, bacon and ham cooked to order.
We needed to return a car to the rental car agency at the airport. When we inquired at reception about transportation back from the airport to the hotel, the staff at reception said they would make arrangements for us with the rental car agency to have the car picked up and returned to the airport. A couple of hours later we received confirmation from the agency by email that the car had been returned. Now that is service!
Our flight out of LJU was early. Once again, the very efficient, reception staff handled making arrangements for a taxi to the airport and a boxed breakfast to go.

This was our first visit to Slovenia and was scheduled to coincide with a concert at the Dvorana Stozice in Ljubljana. The hotel was booked after visiting their website and reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Sometimes this a a dangerous thing to do but in this case every positive comment on your site lived up to our experience.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel the staff were absolutely wonderful. we had only booked for two nights and we asked when we arrived if it were possible to stay for an extra night. We were told that the hotel was fully booked and it was not possible. So we made arrangements to move to the Hotel Kempinski at Portoroz. At breakfast the next morning Liza from reception told us that a room had become available if would would like to stay on. We told her that we had booked with the Kempinski and that there would be a big cancellation fee. So she said to leave it with her. The outcome was the hotel changed dates free of charge and we got to stay another night at this wonderful hotel.
The rooms are beautifully styled with all the facilities that you could ever want for example free WiFi. The minibar was free, however the choice of of drinks and goodies were rather limited. The breakfast was truly wonderful, everything from the the fruit, cereals, bread, home made jams, pastries was just first class. On top of that you got hot food cooked to order which was superb. Lastly the staff here were also top class people.
There was only one negative and that was the cost of garaging our car per day. It was over and above what one would have expected. Having said that the Kempinski charged the same so perhaps that's the norm in Slovenia.
All in all we would recommend this hotel to anybody that was visiting Ljubljana and wanted a first class hotel in a good location. If we ever return to Ljubljana we will definitely return to the Cubo.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the castle, absolutely no problem with noise.
