Comfortable but nothing special. Supposedly 5 Star but not that standard in my view. Breakfast good. Room small. Everything else ho-hum.

Having stayed at the Hotel Lev in Ljubljana for a couple of nights, I found the hotel to be very much old style. A hotel that lost its grandeur quite some years ago. However, room & internet worked for me. Service - frankly - was nothing special, and the lobby & restaurant not a place I would want to hang out in.

I didn't have any meals there, so cannot comment on that. As a business traveler I now know there are better and more convenient hotels in Ljubljana. But of those options aren't available, I won't mind staying at the good ol Lev again.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Lev for a long weekend. The hotel is very comfortable and very central to the Old Town. We were in a group of 12 people (6 couples) and the staff at the hotel were very helpful. The breakfast was ok but for some reason the coffee was barely luke warm. We, and two other couples in our party were given a suite which was really spacious but my only complaint was that the aircon was off and the rooms were too hot. The other three couples were in standard rooms which were ok but the bathrooms were tiny. All the rooms and communal areas were well decorated and spotlessly clean. We went to a couple of good restaurants - Marley and Me - very small restaurant but good food and Pecarina - really good served a mixture of Italian and Slovenian food.
We also hired a bus driver and a guide which took us to Lake Bled (absolutely worth visiting) which is about a 50 minute drive away. Would recommend Ljubljana for a visit very beautiful and clean,

Room Tip: Go for a suite - a lot more spacious

A large and functional business hotel, conveniently located not even a kilometre outside the historic city centre and right next to the eastern corner of Tivoli park.

Rooms are furnished in fashionable – thus not very original – “contemporary design” style. They are not all that spacious but bed and furniture are laid out smartly, there is a large flat surface close to the window which sports a classic Artemide reading lamp and serves as a desk and, at a lower angle, a suitcase space. The view from the ninth floor across the whole city is very nice.

Carpeted throughout ( I prefer wooden floors). Loads of plugs everywhere, appreciated by the business traveller with his multitude of telecom gadgets. A gigantic light flat-screen television is mounted on a moveable arm, very practical and loads of international stations are pre-programmed.

Storage space is not huge but, of course, sufficient for the business traveller. Bathrobes and slippers are in the closet. I never use these (unless I have time for gym or spa) but I still like the idea that I could if I wanted to! “L’Occitane en Provence” cosmetics – soap, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion - with their pleasant citrusy smell. The shower is in the bathtub, this is not ideal but a moveable glass screen controls the spray effectively.

Staff is friendly and efficient. Many of them spoke English and German (and Slovene, of course). Lobby is rather small. There is a business centre on the mezzanine floor with two workstations with internet access and a printer. Ample meeting facilities, everything worked very well in those.

I was invited to a dinner reception during my stay; it was held in one of the larger rooms on the ground floor: Good service, okay atmosphere, appalling food. This seems to be a general problem in Ljubljana, though, as my next dinner (outside the hotel) was just as bad. Strange, when considering that this small country has borders to Austria, Italy and Croatia, all countries where I have eaten exceptional food. I believe the Slovenes are at the stage where they – unfortunately – try to move away from their traditional cuisine but haven’t arrived a confident level of “modern” international cooking yet, it was all a bit too ambitious and executed without skill.

There is a casino in the building but it contains only slot machines.

Taxis pre-ordered by the concierge hours early were late to arrive, might not be the hotel staff’s fault as such, but is inconvenient all the same.

Very nice room, well decorated and good size bath room. Staff was very helpful. Good breakfast and had an excellent dinner there.
Hotel is a short walk to the old town and we had a great view from our room of the castle.
Hotel is located off on a side street so very quite.

I stayed here on a business trip. I got a single room which was really really small. Breakfast is excellent. A short walk from city centre.
