“Stay here but stay in the hostel”
Reviewed 14 September 2011

I rate this a 5 star hostel, and 3 European star hotel. Apparently there is very little difference between the hotel rooms and hostel rooms but the hotel rooms are much more expensive. The hostel room I stayed in was better than many hotels I've stayed in and cheaper than private rooms at some seriously dumpy hostels. I trained into Ljubljana alone and without a room and walked to reception and was told I could get a twin shared or pay just a little bit more to make sure I had the room to myself (nice offer for the hotel/hostel's bottom line, but also the customer's wallet which is a rare combination and much appreciated). The receptionist was friendly, helpful and even funny. It was a big room by European standards, clean floorboards (seriously more hotels and hostels need to scrap carpet), and a nice clean bathroom.

Yes, the view from the room did not gaze upon mystic Ljubljana, but rather some down trodden tenements. But it's a very short walk to the old town. I absolutely recommend this place and would certainly stay here again if I go back to Ljubljana. One of the best values I've come across in recent travels.

Room Tip: Just get a private room in the hostel portion.

We stayed here twice on a recent trip to Slovenia and thoroughly enjoyed our stays. The hotel has a lively, youthful feel with a patio restaurant thats perfect for dinner or figuring a strategy for Ljublana adventures. The rooms were neet and quiet. The staff were extremely knowledgeble and multilingual and the location was walking distance to all things cool. We even used the bicycle rentals out front extensively to explore farther afield.

We are definitely coming back.

This was a perfect hotel if you don't have alot of money, but want to avoid bed bugs and dirty hostels. We stayed here 5 nights, and I think it was okey. The room was big enough and it was clean. The breakfast was also good. The staff in the reception were kind and helpfull.

But try to avoid the hotel bar "Spark". The drinks were really terrible and the service bad. So, just sleep in your room and eat the breakfast, but please, go out to take your drinks and eat some nice food. I would also recommend you to buy some "ear plugs". The street outside was really noisy. And one more thing, preper to swett all night. They don't have any air condition in the room.

Abstract: Ok hotell, and I would stay there again, but I would NEVER buy any drinks in the bar.

We stayed at Hotel Park for one night in August 2011. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but it was fine. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. No complaints.

I was a little bit apprehensive of this hotel from pictures other reviewers have posted on TA. Due to budget and proximity considerations I booked 2 nights here anyway. Apparently some of the dirty or run-down images I flipped through were actually of its surroundings, and not of the hotel itself. Shame on you people. The Hotel Park is quite honestly a nice hotel.

The front desk staff were exceptionally polite. Due to an early arrival, they were happy to hold our luggage until the 2pm check-in time. The room is small and simply furnished, but it is clean, comfortable, and most importantly the air-con blows cold. Wifi is free only in the lobby. The hotel is about a 20 minute stroll from the train & bus stations. You can make it to the Dragon Bridge and Castle Hill cable car in under 10 minutes.

Beware that the hotel gets crowded with guests in August; and as tall as the building is, the efficiency of its 2 elevators can become severely impaired. The abundance of guests coupled with free breakfast also result in a very chaotic dining experience.

Two floors of the hotel operate as a hostel with the same reception and other facilities as the hotel but a lower standard of rooms. Our hostel room was a twin with own toilet and washbasin and although the flooor, plumbing etc was obviously old it was clean and had all we needed for a short stay. Seemed good value for a city where decent central rooms are expensive and we would stay there again.
The location was great..10 minutes walk to the old town or the station (important to us as we were catching an early morning train). The area is very quiet with no through roads around the building but we found it very noisy on friday night when streams of groups of people went past noisily from about 12.00-2.00.

The best part of this hotel was the location: close to the old town and an easy walk from the train and bus station, and all at a pretty decent price for Ljubljana. The room itself was clean but average, and roomier than I expected. We did, however, have a bit of a problem with noise; although we were in the hotel part, we were right above the restaurant and heard a lot of the tour group noise from the restaurant and the plaza in front of the hotel. Furthermore, we had work noise during the day (even on Sunday), so sleep was hard to come by for most of the weekend. Also, we were a little annoyed that the staff seemed more interested in selling us dinner at the hotel than helping us with our problems. The breakfast was also only average; decent amount of selection for only so-so quality. Although the location was great, I would probably do extensive research into other hotels before ever staying here again.
