“Fun & central location in Old Town, infinity pool, great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in August and it was a super fun place to stay, in the middle of everything. The location in the middle of Old Town right by the river was so convenient. It allowed us to drop in and out of the hotel whenever we wanted to drop off bags, use our own washroom, etc. There are tons of restaurants along the river beside the hotel, which all have lively patios. The downside of this is that 1) it is noisy, and 2) cigarette smoke wafts in through your windows if you leave them open. However the windows are very good quality and block out most (but not all) of the sound. For us, the entertainment value and convenience of being in such a central location more than compensated for these things.

We stayed in a Vander Large room (35) which was on the 3rd floor, the top floor with rooms, and the closest to the river without paying up for a river-side room. This gave us a side view of the river from one of the windows. The room was very spacious, clean, and very modern. We requested twin beds, and these were very comfortable (my guess is that they would push the twins together to form a "king"). Don't sit in the armchair or you will never get up again, it is so comfortable. There was a mirrored armoire which contained a mini bar, mini safe, and a few small shelves. There was no dresser in the room, but there were a few shelves inside the hall closet. There was no folding luggage rack but there were some stools at the right height for opening your suitcase. What the room lacked in storage it made up for with ample space. We used the WiFi quite a bit and it was fast (and free).

The bathroom was super modern and we loved the big rain shower with choice of shower heads (there was no bathtub). The wall was all glass with a curtain that could be drawn across for complete privacy. I agree with other comments that they are missing a few practicalities such as hooks on the wall to hang towels.

The 24-hour staff at the front desk were super helpful. We had walked to the hotel, dragging our suitcases over the cobblestone through Old Town (which is a pedestrian-only zone), and the hotel staff felt so badly about this (despite the fact that it was completely my fault - I forgot that you can call them and they will pick you up in a golf cart!) We used one of their restaurant suggestions on the last night and were very happy with it. On our last morning, they arranged a cab for our super-early flight, and because we were missing breakfast, packed us two very nice (and big!) meals for the airplane.

The breakfast that was included in the price of the hotel was excellent - croissants and fresh breads and cupcakes, cold cuts, cheese and olives, yogurt, fruit cups, fresh juices and eggs made to order.

The infinity pool on the 4th floor rooftop was a great place to relax and go for a swim. The water was cool and clean. It was small (maybe about 18 feet long?), but I had it completely to myself for an hour when I used it at 9am (which is when it opened). It was so lovely to go for a swim and look out over the rooftops and down to the river. It was open until 7pm, but people were sitting out on the terrace enjoying the view well after that time.

At EUR150/night including breakfast, this hotel was excellent value. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms are on 3 floors and most face the alley (Krojaska Ulica), other than the river view rooms. Roo...

The hotel is located in the center of town.

We had a super-modern room. The furnishings and fixtures all looked ready to be featured in a trendy design magazine. The bathroom was very cool... Slate-colored tile. Large basin sink. The bathroom walls were transparent with a curtain that could be pulled out to block the view. There was a walk in shower with a rain shower head.

The room was not set up well for unpacking. The bathroom had no hooks or racks. In fact, there was no toilet paper holder. There was no dresser. And, the closet was very small.

The rooftop offers a small pool and a bar. There was a free yoga class one morning.

The restaurant was great. We had a nice breakfast there each morning. And, we had lovely dinner one evening.

Our room overlooked Krojaska Ulica (entrance). There was a bar below us. Closing the windows and shutters blocked out the noise from below. But, even on the 3rd floor, we could smell the cigarette smoke from the outside.

The service is terrific. The staff was extremely helpful with local information, taxis, trains, etc.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked Krojaska Ulica (entrance). There was a bar below us. Closing the windows and s...

I forgot my new Kenzo shirt in the room and it was sent back home in Belgium, very kind from them!

Lovely hotel, smiling informative staff, well cooked food, fab breakfast, superbly situated, good sized rooms, giant beds, plentiful channels all cable fed, proper high speed free wifi - not what we mainly get in 3rd world England! All in all a very good hotel indeed.
Spaceship design might not be to everyone's taste, I thought it was fine, I wouldn't want to live in it in my own house, but it was a point of interest. The fine detailing slightly let it down, but not everyone checks how well the borders with wallpaper have been painted? I hope not, but the devil is in the detail. It was proper clean, so housekeeping are doing their job properly. I would definately go to Lubljana again and this hotel ticks all the right boxes.

Room Tip: All the rooms look of a decent size, we were in a standard room, it was perfectly adequote

We only stayed one night here and interior design aside this is a very good hotel.
Good room size, excellent linen, great big bed, fast free internet, huge quantity of cable TV and a very good breakfast.
The hotel is right in the centre of the pedestrian precinct of Lublijana, so you do have to walk from the car park, but if you have a lot of luggage there is an electric taxi service. Extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff made our stay more special. Personally I didn't mind the interior decoration, but I'm sure it wouldn't be to everyone's taste...but hey live a little you beige and chintz lovers

Room Tip: Arrive early for breakfast and stay all morning

We spent two nights here and two nights at another hotel at the end of a trip around Slovenia but wished we had stayed here the whole time!! We loved this hotel. It is new and fresh and modern, the design is really great. The staff were super friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home. We quite liked the bathroom design with the clear glass, it was fun!! We had read other reviews about night club noise which was why we didn't book our entire stay here (we are light sleepers!!) but we didn't hear any noise at all. The roof top pool is small but lovely in summer, we enjoyed the cocktails. We ate in the restaurant and also enjoyed it. Overall we loved our stay, so nice to see these kind of boutique hotels. Would highly recommend and definitely return.

We've been so lucky to discover this small hotel. Excellent situation. We have tried a bigger and a smaller room. Bigger rooms are really worth the deal. Smaller rooms too but they are really small - ok for one or two nights, a bit too small if you stay longer. The bathroom are excellent in both categories, even if in the small rooms obviously the bathroom is also pretty small. Wi fi in all the rooms. Swimming pool on the rooftop is also really really small, but once you are in the water it's perfect to order a cocktail and enjoy the view over the rooftops. Don't miss the VANDER restaurant - great food and great service. By the way, the service is VERY friendly in the whole place (hotel and restaurant). Very clean, very convenient, very design. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Look on Internet for good rates. Try to get a bigger room as the first category (small) are pretty...
