“Good Location and Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2008

This youth hostel was one of the nicer ones I saw on my trip. It was about 10 minutes walking from the bus/train station, and only 5 minutes to the main downtown area of Ljubljana. It was on a quieter street though so there wasn't too much noise during the night. The staff was extremely helpful in getting us information about the city, tourism sites, airport transportation, grocery store locations, etc. We were in the downstairs room (a private double room), but the upstairs seemed a bit more "fun" for people who want to hang out and talk with other young travelers. The kitchen and Internet are upstairs, too. Everything was very clean, and the decorations were very cool- kind of modern and IKEA-ish with cute polka-dot linens (I know guys won't care, but I'm sure girls can appreciate it!) They also let us keep our bags there during the day until our afternoon flight.

Down an unassuming street, along the river is the Most Hostel. From the front the place doesn't shout 'hostel' but the lovely staff are waiting for you to show you the way.

Rooms are nicely furnished and the twin we had was very spacious. Bathrooms are all brand new, even a spa bath if you have the time! Shared kitchen is like your own house!

Fantastically close to the old town and views to the Castle, location is brilliant and only 10 minutes walk from the bus station.

Definitely recommend it.

Stayed in 3 different places in Ljubljana, and this was far and away the best. Honestly, it is one of the finest hostels I have ever stayed at anywhere in the world.

It is a completely clean, renovated place, with real beds, a full kitchen, and free really fast internet. Likewise, it has a perfect location on the water in the center of town. As well, loads of character - it is literally a renovated old Slovenian house which they were careful to maintain in the renovations, so you walk into a back courtyard that could easily be from long, long ago... Finally, the bathroom is impeccable, with a state of the art shower (really - the kind of multi-fauceted thing you usually find in a new hotel in Dubai), great water pressure, and a clean, modern toilet.

The set-up is one dorm room (obviously the more social place), and then about 4-5 private rooms which hold 2-3 people each. So, it can be perfect for young guys traveling wanting a dorm, or for a young couple wanting something nicer (really - it is far superior to many 3 star places I have stayed...and yet cheap! I love this place)

Most importantly, both the guests and owners are incredibly social and friendly. It is owned by students, and they are happy to help you find anything you need - have them call you a taxi and the price will be 1/3 of what you pay if you pick one up on the street.

On their friendliness, some specifics: we broke (proper broke, as one of the English guys who saw it said, smashing a board in two) one of their brand new beds, and they did not charge us anything or even complain. They let us sleep in hours past check-out time without a fuss. When we came back into the city (on Easter Weekend), we did not have a reservation, and 1) the guy refused to sell us a room that someone else had reserved despite their not arriving until really late (I found his honesty and loyalty very comforting) yet 2) he called around for a good 15 minutes and found us another place - not just another place, but we found us several places to give us options. Really, above and beyond, but the kind of thing you really remember and appreciate.

In all, Most Hostel is the finest place in the world. If you go to Slovenia, unless you are traveling on business and definitely want a 4 or 5 star hotel, stay there.

This is hands down the best hostel to stay in in Ljubljana - we know because after two dissatisfying nights in two other hostels, we got to Most Hostel through a staff member at one of the unsatisfactory places - even they know! The Most is charming, clean, modernly-equipped (awesome large kitchen, free internet, big bathrooms, even a Jacuzzi), the rooms are spacious, open, light, cheerfully decorated, beds comfy and lots of storage. Thereare two lounges & dining area. Best of all, you are right on the river and only a few minutes from the Dragon Bridge, central square, market. Cafes abound, as do restaurants and shops. Its in the old part of the "new" city, with cobbled lanes and all the charm, quiet and away from the busy streets. The staff are friendly, informative, and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. They do laundry for a reasonable rate, too. (Try finding a laundromat in Ljubljana!). We stayed in a private double that was bigger than most Western hotel rooms, and equally well equipped, and very, very reasonable. The dorm rooms are equally nice, not overcrowded with beds, full of light and plants and cozy conversation nooks. Highly recommended!!!!
