I will chime in with other reviewers - we stayed here the first time in Feb 2009, when they were actually making a promo of this hotel - and it's very nice. We've stayed here twice this year, always (without prior reservation) in decently-sized rooms, without eating at the hotel (breakfast was certainly adequate). Rooms are fine (except the clothes-hangers), staff is friendly, and wellness facilities are free of charge (odd in Slovenia, normal in Germany/Austria). Fun design. Nice, friendly, modern, unpretentious hotel. Absolutely recommended.

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Marita, like other people we had concerns regarding the food.  At times we found meals to be 'strange' very unual combinations of food.  As the meals were all of a buffet nature if you chose a dish that was not ver popular it was mostly cold.  Vegetables were nearly always cold.  At one stage we had to sit away from the main dining area with 4 other tables of all of whom spoke different languages.  After standing our ground we managed to be seated in the main area again the next day.  This rather put a bad taste to the holiday. There was no information in the rooms regarding what the hotel could offer to the residents and there were numerous things that we did not find out were available to us until it was nearly time to leave for home

Hi everyone..well let me tell you that I had the best experience at this hotel, they have modernized it and made it bigger and much better. The rooms are amazing and the hospitality is at the top...they have an amyzing outdoor pool now that is surrouned by flora from all over the world, by a botanic garned...it is truly unbeliavable. They have a new terasse that offers a perfect view of Portorož and the sea....an experience I will never forget

Having read previous reviews after booking this hotel, I was a little concerned about it. I need not have worried.

Firstly, let us get the food issue out of the way! Most guest staying here are on a bed and breakfast basis and those travelling with UK tour operators, in my case Inghams, could have gone B&B for a reduction of £3.20 per night. At that price you can't expect too much, especially as it included a gass of wine, beer or soft drink. Only the main course has to be ordered the night before and there are three choices -meat, fish or vegetarian - the other hree courses are from the buffet which is limited, but fresh and adequate. Ordering the nght before enables the hotel the offer a choice and they are more than willing to try and change the main course if you can't eat it - there were several people with wheat and other food intollerances whilst I was there and the hotel bent over backwards. There was no smash or canned veg in sight and meal represented good value for money. A main course at a local restaurant ranged from about 7€ to 20€+ (£5-£20), so you need to get this in perspective.

The hotel staff is excellent - friendly and vey helpful. If you need to know something just ask reception and they will either tell you or find out. They were always cheerful and most went out of their way to have a chat and make sure you were enjoying your stay.

Rooms are a good size, modern and fresh with pleny of storage space, safe and TV. Very comfortable Austrian style beds and very quiet. All have a good sized balcony. Bathrooms are spotless - I had a 'Jacuzzi Shower' rather than bath, so each shower also provided a massage. Room attendants kept the whole room spotless and it was usually serviced by the time I came back from breakfast.

Very reasonable bar prices with coffee starting at 1€, a glass of reasonable wine at 1€ or a large beer at 2.92€ - and available 24 hours.

Location is at the edge of Portoroz (Lucija) and about 10 minutes along the seafront to the main resort area - the bonus is this is a quieter area.

Did not try the pool/spa/sauna, but guests who did found it first class.

First week of a two centre holiday - agree with both positive and negative comments from other reviewer.
The evening meal was particularly poor; I think it is called lack of imagination....
Hospital food is rather too complimentary.
We flew in with ADRIA the national airway, well organised, but the included flight meal - a cheese cob and a lukewarm coffee should have warned us what to expect.
Our room was super, the decoration being first class, staff polite and helpful and bar prices reasonable.
Fortunately the second week was at the RUBIN hotel, Porec, Croatia, where the food was something else.

imagine being given tomorrows menu the previous evening with 2 choices for each course. imagine your "potatoes" being Smash and vegatables either out of a tin or a frozen packet. Your in hospital right?...

I agree with the food part but the staff and general conditions are good.

The rooms are good Art Deco type, nice balcony and with good housekeeping service. The bathroom would take to long to describe here just try to imagine the shower screen at the wrong end of the bath!! OK if there is two of you we took it in turns to shower each other!!

Great location buses right outside the hotel to nearly everywhere but revel wise beware if you are not on a package with transfers the time from the airport is over 1 1/2 hours on a good day.
