“Great hotel to escape, Hungarian standards.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

The Anna Grand Hotel is a lovely place, and has a great spa. It is ideal for couples to have a high standard weekend escape. If you decide to do so, definetely book your spa treatments in advance, and do not spare on them, the very good and trained staff will give you real relaxing experience. They have a very wide range of treatments.

I stayed in Anna Grand with my extended family in July, 2013.
Could not wait to be there, I heard the best from this hotel, since my folks stayed there in 2011.

We got a classic room, with the following problems:
-several foot long crack on the wall, many shorter cracks,
-outlet was hanging out of the wall in one of the bathroom,
-shower head holder was broken as well,
-other bathroom was dark, one light did not work,
-toilette was dripping all the time in this bathroom,
-no night stands or night lights,
-dead bugs and moths,
-bug running around,
-no information in the hotel’s folder about anything,
-no “please tidy up my room” sign, they don’t clean if its not hanging on the door,
-one broken pen.

I requested a room change, which we got.
Just to give a total review here is the evaluation of the modern room we got:
-dead bugs behind every door,
-toilette paper holder was ready to fall off,
-no bath tub plug,
-curtains were ready to falloff from the holder at several places
-room was so empty its echoed (no décor whatsoever).
Moreover:
-one family member got stuck in the elevator,
-other room had a terribly dirty carpet,
-one extra bed fell apart,
-request for a Balaton view was not honored.
Breakfast and dinner was OK, nothing to remember. Welcome drink was forgotten for one of us.
Wellness part: all right, missing tiles, super slippery floor, bring flip flops.
Overall: never going back, not a 4 star place.

Stayed one night recently as part of a wedding. The hotel is very nice and all public areas are modern. The spa is lovely, modern and very clean, and the seating area outside the front of the hotel is very pleasant with a large umbrellas, reasonably priced food and full waitress service. Its just a short 5 minute walk dowen to the lake side and the waterfront where there is a good mixture of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. I stayed in a modern refurbished room (be sure to ask for one as not all rooms have been renovated and the deluxe rooms are nicer than the classic roooms.

The breakfast was nice - a reasonable buffet selection of hot and cold, fruit and pastries and even sparkling wine.

Good value and most probably the bets hotel in the resort of Balatonfured.

This Hotel has a flavor to itself, which could appeal to many visitors. Recently the Hotel was expanded, choose the bigger or newer rooms!
Some very interesting paintings could be bought at the Hotel and the stuff is very kind.
Wellness is OK, with the cold water for the sauna to be avoided (stench!)...
Great massage and the price is right too!

Room Tip: Deluxe double room! Best by far! and you will not regret if you go half board! :)

We stayed at Anna Grand Hotel for one night, on a journey around Hungary. Let me say that this hotel is excellent. We had a really good offer at 79 euros for a premium renovated room, half-board inclusive, which is a 50% off the standard rate. We booked only two days in advance, which seems to be the good timetable to get an offer for this hotel.
Arrival was smooth, checkin was fast and easy.
The evening meal was delicious. Buffet-style. There was a dish "Chicken breast with ginger and apple" which was wonderful and really delicious. The meat soup was also delicious (hungarians are good at cooking soups, so don't miss it!).
The drinks prices were really reasonable and, that's true, the restaurant is in another building than the hotel itself, but it's a charming 50 meters walk in the garden square.
The building is restored and has a pleasant mix of modern-ancient design.
We also had cake and tea (wonderful french Damman bortiher's tea) at the café. One word: Perfect! The waitress was one of the most adorable staff at the hotel (shame I don't have her name to mention it here).
Parking is at charge, but you can park for free a little bit up in the town. If you don't bother a 5-minutes walk, you'll save 6 euros (which is still reasonable if you park at the hotel).
The location is great, rght between town main street and the lake, near the Heart Hospital.
I would definitely return.
We had a room overlooking the back of the hotel (view on the parking), but it was very quiet and we could sleep with the window open.
I can only recommend this hotel to anybody. I hope you'll find a good offer for it, as we did!

Room Tip: Any room seems to be quiet, as the hotel is in a quiet environment

We arrived in Balatonfured off-season, in the spring, but in a freak coincidence, all of Hungary was snowed in completely and unexpectedly. We chose the Anna Grand Hotel because of its location (in the most beautiful, central part of Balatonfured), it's look (unlike the modern hotels there, which we found unattractive, it's in a very elegant building) and the fact that it has a large indoor pool (in case we wouldn't be able to walk around because of the weather).

The hotel lived up well to the high expectations we had of it, and we had a very nice stay. Some observations:

1. Our package included dinner, which was surprisingly good. Much better than we expected from a hotel buffet.

2. However, drinks aren't included in dinner, which felt like a bit of a dirty trick.

3. And their coffee is terrible. Especially annoying as there is obviously excellent coffee in Balatonfured- for example at the Karolina or Bergmann cafes.

4. The rooms come in many different sizes- if it's important to you, find out how big the room you're getting is beforehand. We switched ours upon arriving, but if the hotel is fully-booked that won't be possible when you arrive.

Room Tip: The rooms in the same price class come in many different sizes- we discovered that our room was much...

Beautiful hotel in the walking distance of Lake Balaton. Very tasty food, especially breakfast, clean and spacious rooms, great wellness and beautiful surroundings at all. The only think I would complain about was the hotel staff. Each requirement way necessary to repeat several times which was very unpleasant and annoying.
