“Amazing pizzas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

A nice little find, we sat outside and enjoyed two pizzas. I don't eat pizza often but these were amazing and HUGE. The pizzas cost around £6-8 and must have been 14'. Our waitress was lovely and really friendly.

Great location, excellent food, beautiful and friendly staff, cozy second store. Plus, funny "sewing machne" tables :)

“Disappointed!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

After a friend recommended this restaurant to me, I was excited to go and have some good Italian food in a nice setting. I was also curious on one hand because prices were nearly as high as those of Pomo d'Oro in the 5th district, and slightly apprehensive on the other hand because some recent reviews were average at best.
We arrived and were promptly seated - at the wrong table at first - and our waiter (Jimmy) was kind, efficient, and absolutely multi-lingual. I would bet he and the other waitress we saw were definitely not Italian, but that really doesn't matter.
After ordering we got some bread which was very average white bread, not extremely fresh but not bad either. Oil/butter, salt and pepper were not provided with the bread; I think this is something you could expect in this price range.
We received two starter plates to share - one of 'Sicilian' cold cuts, the other of grilled veg and tomato&mozzarella. The cold cuts looked distinctly Hungarian - quite fatty and very spicy salamis, Mangalica ham, and a small dish of mixed pickles - the jarred, vinegary straight-out-of-the-supermarket-bottom-shelf type - was placed in their midst. The grilled veg were alright, but nothing special; the olive oil that eventually arrived to drizzle over them was again average if not mediocre.
The main courses (Tortelloni with spinach filling in Gorgonzola sauce, and a ham, mushroom and artichoke pizza) were decent but absolutely nothing special. The pizza dough was good, but the rest of the pizza was a little off: The sauce wasn't seasoned, the ham rubbery, and too many toppings piled on so the middle of the pizza was soggy. Plate wasn't warm so it cooled down rather quickly (but then again we were sitting outside and that may have had something to do with it). The Tortelloni, supposedly home made, were a little bland and the Gorgonzola sauce had 'set' and was quite fatty, as well as overpowering compared with the bland Tortelloni. Portion sizes were a little out of proportion - the Pizza was a good 35cm in diameter and of the Tortelloni there were a little more than a handful.
I have to say that I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to food, especially Italian food, and had the prices been 30% lower I would have given this four stars. But Millennium da Pippo didn't live up to the hype, the food was average and not authentic, and some basic restaurant 101 (see comments on warm plates, oil with bread, etc.) was not observed. I haven't eaten here before so what follows is purely speculative, but based on what I've heard and read here it seems like the restaurant was doing a stellar job until it attained a certain status and since then standards have slipped. I won't be going back.

One more negative point - and this is a general comment for all establishments on Andrassy and has nothing to do with this restaurant in particular - is that most evenings, starting at 5PM and going on until at least 9PM, these bloody annoying beer bikes full of drunk, mostly British (therefore mostly shirtless, sunburnt and unsightly) tourists roll past, music blaring, lots of shouting, etc. I live on Andrassy and have to say it has the potential to ruin lots of nice moments when enjoying this otherwise grand boulevard.
