“Good location and excellent service”
Reviewed 24 January 2012

If you're looking for a nice place to stay on Buda hill, with beautiful, large rooms, excellent and friendly service and good breakfast, stay here. You can also find some good deals over the low peak season. Will recommend to anyone traveling on a mid-range budget.

Rooms were clean, nice and spacious. Service was very good and the staff was really polite. During winter time the location isn't the best one, the castle area is very quiet and you have to go all the way to Pest side to do shopping etc. The hotel is easy to access with metro or tram and bus number 16/16A, but walking over river is freezing experience.
If you looking for nice and quiet place, go to Buda Castle Fashion hotel!

A true "find" in the heart of Old Buda. Large rooms simply but perfectly adequately decorated & furnished in modern style.
Room (on 1st floor) was clean and well appointed (although no view but not a necessity as you need to get out and about to visit this fabulous ciry!). Bed was comfortable (although duvets were a bit short and soon fell off!). Bathroom was modern and spacious (although plumbing did smell a bit).
Breakfast was perfectly adequate (and they were happy to do fresh boiled or fried eggs on demand).
All staff were friendly and helpful.
They also have a special email address to which Boarding Passes can be sent for printing - a brilliant idea!

First off, to experience Budapest for real, you must stay on Castle Hill. It is old, the ambience is true Europe, and completely safe. Our 9 days at the Buda Castle hotel were absolutely wonderful. Amazing staff 24/7, all with english. Free breakfast. A nice lounge till midnite. Reasonably priced and the best sights in the city all around you. We had the ancient streets of Castle Hill right outside our door. We wandered for hours in the sunshine and the fog, and most times, mainly the evening, we had the streets and vistas to ourself. Will definately be back! We never went anywhere in Budapest where someone didn't speak english. English signs everywhere. You don't even need a car, buses every 2 minutes, trolleys and subway take you all over the city. Get a Buda card for cheap travel and discounts. Just blocs away from the hotel was a deli, a great grocer and liquor store, ATM's and sweet cafes. Why go to expensive, snobby Paris or overcrowded Rome?? Budapest is the new Paris.

Room Tip: The rooms beside the alley give a view of an ancient wall that may have been there four hundred year...

We had booked a 4 nights stay, including new year's eve. I have to admit I was a little concerned, having read about overbooking issues.

My concerns disappeared right at the moment we arrived at the hotel. The hotel is rather small, very stylish and personal. Despite having booked a standard room, we were upgraded to a suite. The room was huge! Enough space for a queen-size bed, a coffee table with 4 arm-chairs, a 3-seater sofa, desk & mini-bar, flat TV, a large closet and a suite-case rack large-enough for 2 suitcases. The bathroom had a bath-tub, a separate shower cabin and a large wash basin, whereas the toilet and a smaller wash basin were on a separate room. We really loved the floor heating in the bathroom. Walking bare-footed on the hot tiles was a real relief after a long day walking and site-seeing.

Breakfast was satisfactory. Although the breakfast room is rather small, we never had to wait for a table, although the hotel was probably full during our stay. Wifi access was free, fast and reliable.

The location is excellent. Inside Buda castle, five minutes walk to the Fisherman's Bastion (THE place to take photos of Pest in the evening). Moreover it is also five minutes walk to the stop of no. 16 / 16A buses that connect the castle to the city / the metro station. They run with a frequency of 2 to 10 minutes (depending on the hour) and we found them to be a very dependable method of transport.

The staff was really superb! Polite and helpful on every request we had.

I would certainly go back!!!

Room Tip: We were given room no. 3, on the ground floor.

Friendly and nice communication in advance, it was very easy to add a 3rd guest to our initial booking for two and adapt room size and price.
On arrival, very nice reception and well-prepared invoice etc.
Room on 2nd floor was nice, equipped with a twin bed on a gallery and a bed / sofa combination. Mini Bar, flat LCD, safe, hair dryer etc....whatever you need.
Clean carpet and bathroom.
Free and good WiFi. International TV programs (5 or 6 German channels)
Breakfast selection was ok for the size of the hotel - sometimes it took them some time to refill such as bread and scrambled eggs etc, but that's it with the critics.

The location is really beautiful, up on the hill and with a wonderful view on the river and the chain bridge.

100% recommendation for a short trip to Budapest.
If you are looking for a protestant church - it's just around the corner. We went there for Christmas.

Room Tip: We had room 203 and were very pleased.

We visited the hotel for a weekend trip the weekend before christmas and were stunned by the location, service, rooms and quietness of this hotel.
The hotel is rather small with a nice familiar atmosphere to it. The room we had was very quiet (as quiet as out home in the countryside) large and furnished in a nice modern way.
The bed was rather on the firm side - just the way I like it. We slept like babys.
The location in the middle of the castle district 2min walk from the matthias church is very nice, but you need approx. 10-15 min walk to get to the next tram station: Not an issue for as as we wanted to explore the city by foot anyway. Also taxis are quite affordable in Budapest.
Breakfast was good as well.
Overall This hotel is the best value for money I ever had in my 25 years of private and business travel - Highly recommended !
