“Made us very welcome”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012

The Airport Shuttle Service dropped us outside the rear of the hotel and zoomed away. Confusion set in as we could not find the hotel as it was not marked. A person passing saw our confusion and led us around the other side of the building and assured us this was the place. We buzzed and identified ourselves and were were let in following the directions of the receptionist. After that everything was wonderful. The receptionist Zsuzsi made us very welcome and was so friendly and efficient. The room was adequate for our short stay but very clean and kept that way throughout. Back to Zsuzsi who helped us with information and directions (we were to find out that most Budapestians like her and the rest of the staff were very friendly people, unusual for a capital city. The Metro was close at hand but most things in Pest were within walking distance from the hotel. Although the hotel did not have a restaurant or breakfast room, breakfast was included at the Bali Cafe a two minute walk away. It was a very nice place and the food very good. Our stay was short but we would go back as it is good value for money with efficient, friendly staff and very clean and quiet. It did not give you a feeling of being in a hotel, it was like staying with friends in their apartment block. Thank you Budapest City Central, Bill and Rita

I spent 3 days in Budapest City Central and found it very comfortable. Don’t worry about the entrance, the building is old but the hotel is a hidden pearl inside! Location is perfect, it is the real city center, I could reach everything easily. Receptionists are very friendly and helpful, I felt myself like at home.

Centrally located in the hart of the city. Everything within walking distance, and the metro station is under the street outside. Nice and clean rooms. Service is perfect, very helpful staff. Breakfast is a coupon on the side walk café with good sandwiches.

It can be difficult to find, but if you have the correct address and read the hotel instructions, you have no problem finding your way trough the backyard and stairs to the correct door. The hotel is probably one or more apartments renovated and rebuild to a hotel. The apartment building is very large, and as most of the Budapest buildings, old and a little bit dirty. There is no view from the windows, just to the gallery and stairs in the backyards. The backyard can be a little dark. You have to use a code to open the door from the street or ring the doorbell.

If clean and nice rooms with great A/C, perfect location, simple but good breakfast, good service and a fair price is what you are looking for, this hotel is perfect! If you are looking for large rooms with view, doormen, large reception halls and room service, try another hotel.

It was my first time visiting Budapest , i didn't know the city and it was hard to find the hotel because it doesn't have any sign outside the building and after finding the building by asking from the neighbors , it was hard to find it within the building ,it doesn't look like a hotel entrance & may be a little shocking ! It is in a building that is very old and not updated - peeling paint, cracked walls, missing tiles. The entrance is gated and locked at night .(Despite this, it is a safe area), but after finding it....
it is a very good for the money you are paying for , clean rooms, comfortable beds, shower with hot water, 24 hr reception desk with friendly staff & manager & free coffee, tea & biscs.
the breakfast is given in the cafe in the front of the hotel.
the location is very good just opposite to the Synagogue in Karoly korut & it is about 15 minutes to the city center by walk.
we also received a free bottle of wine at arrival

overall it is very valuable for the cost , if someone wants to visit the city and doesn't want to spend time in hotel, it is wise to choose here

I stayed at Budapest City Central for 4 nights and I have to say it's one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure of staying at. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and they all spoke excellent English. Which is good, because I could only say 'kosonom' (thank you in Hungarian). The room was clean, modern and spacious. The hotel location was excellent and only a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro station and about a 10 minute walk to the Vaci area and the white bridge. Everything about my stay was excellent and I highly recommend staying here. It was a great price and perfect location. I will DEFINITELY be staying here on my next trip to Budapest.

Room Tip: We got a double twin room which was great.

This place was a little hard to find initially due to its location within a set of apartments and the confusing floor numbering system that had the 1st floor as 1F and the actual 1st floor being the 2nd floor. Luckily, there was a lift that made life easier. Location was excellent due to its proximity to 2 subway stations, local attractions such as the Jewish Synagogue, and multiple shops and restaurants. The pricing was great too and the service excellent. There was free, fast wifi and the reception area was open 24 hours a day, attended by young and beautiful reception staff who also provided free printing services. The rooms were clean, comfortable, with 2 decent sized beds and a bathroom with soap and a hairdryer. The shower was hot and had good pressure and there was no shortage of power points. The only complaint really was the lack of a bedside lamp, necessitating getting out of bed to turn off the lights. Otherwise this place was excellent value and I highly recommend it to others.

This was a truly affordable hotel during my stay in January. The facilities were excellent and staff were very friendly. The greatest selling point is its location - very central, close to subways and tram lines, and close to some tourist attractions (e.g. Jewish quarter). Would definitely return here.

Breakfast is cheap and they give you a card to go to a restaurant across the street which does some great food. Highly recommend the $3 or so dollars it cost to dine there.

However, the place can get a little eerie at night, especially if you are arriving for the first time when it is dark. To get into the complex, you walk down a dark passage and press the bell for the hotel. Once through the gate, the complex is a little run down and dirty, with a slightly depressing feel to it. You go up the stairs (or lift) which are poorly lit, and when you reach the hallway it is initially dark until the light sensors detect you and come on. As you walk down the hallway, more lights come on and make a loud sound as they do. But once you reach the reception, all is safe. This was my experience on the first night. Returning every night after that was fine.
