“Good student accomodation”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013 via mobile

It was clean and well maintained - pretty okay for a student accomodation. But if you're in Budapest for a holiday, i wouldn't chose this place. Its very far from the city centre, around 45minutes travel time. Aside from that, its a good place. The reception people are helpful. They have security 24/7. There's a swimming pool. The cafeteria serve good food. The laundry is cheap. The common kitchen is useful and clean, although theres no microwave.

I stayed ad this hotel for quite some time as I studied at the Central European University. The good thing about it is that is has sauna, swimming pool, ok food (cantina), rooms are ok, bathroom is clean etc. The negative things are that it is a bit far away from the center. However this is not a problem for this hotel as it is very close to public transportation and Budapest has the best public transportation system (in comparison to Prague, Krakow, Bucharest, Chisinau, Kiev, Washington DC, London etc.) You just cross the street take a bus till the final stop and take the subway from its first stop and it takes you to the center. Overall it takes 30 minutes tops. Moreover, buses which travel after 12:00 AM also pass near the hotel so in case you are coming from a party at 4 AM - there is no need to spend too much on a cab (cabs are expensive in Budapest). You just need to check the schedule.
Although there are students living in this hotel they are usually always busy studying and the "party room" is far away in the basement which makes it silent. If I visited Budapest again, I would definitely stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: The receptionist (usually in the evenings) Ambrus Barnyi (Ambrush Barney how to read in English) is...

Rooms are clean but small for two people. Breakfast is very poor. The reception is not very helpful, either. It is 40 minutes far from the city center. Although public transportation is good, it may be tricky to get back at night.

I stayed here in December 2011 while visiting Budapest. I just needed somewhere to leave my stuff and sleep/shower etc so I chose CEU based on price.

The suite I was in was as I expected. Clean, tidy, had everything that I expected (and a bit more in that there was a small kitchenette in mine). It was warm, the shower worked fine, plenty of hot water. It was lovely and quiet so I slept really well. (I understand that students stay here and I went during holidays so it may not be the case during term time!)

To get into the city was one stop on the overground train and a couple on the underground.

I didn't use the swimming pool or eat anything as I was out all the time.

Honestly the hotel is worth staying in.
It is very clean, the stuff is friendly. The cleaners clean the bathroom every day. The room had air conditioning. On the floor there was a lounge with refrigerator, toster, sink and a coffee maker.
In the room there are provided: tv, telephone, towels, soap, tissues, two glasses.
The metro is only about 3 minutes by bus or railway. The two night-buses get there also.
The price was 25euro per night/double room.

It's also used as a dorm for CEU students, so I've stayed there for two years, and ever since I benefit from an alumni discount, so whenever I go back to Budapest, i usually stay there - mostly out of nostalgie than anything else, I guess.
It's quite far from the center, though the public transportation is good and available any time of day and night. There are McDonald's and a supermarket within walking distance, and a shopping mall (Arcade) a little further down the road.
The rooms are tiny, so is the shower cabin =) but usually they are quite clean. If you come during summer school time, or a very busy time in general, you will get a room without a TV and without towels, and this kinda sucks.
There is a cafeteria, and breakfast is included, and it's not too bad.
The swimming pool is shallow but nice.
Overall - if you looking for something cheal, but do not want to stay in a hostel with 5 other people - this is the way to go.

Room Tip: Try to ask at the reception for a room on the 1st floor - they have TV and are generally better and...

For a residence centre, this was really great! Had a lovely swimming pool, and managed to do a decent breakfast every day. Bit far from the tube though.
