“Excellent little hostel, great location”

This is a superb hostel in a brilliant location in Budapest. The staff at the hostel were really friendly, the hostel was very clean, quiet and provided a good nights sleep. Would have no hesitation staying here again when we next visit Budapest!

Room Tip: We had a double private room facing the street but had no issues with noise.

A great small non-party hostel. Very relaxed atmosphere, clean and quiet. The guys who run this place are awesome, very nice and helpful people. Surprisingly inexpensive for the quality of the accommodations and you can pay in either Euro or Forint.

The rooms are quiet (even the street facing room I was in), the beds are comfortable, you are provided with a free towel, wifi, maps, simple breakfast in the morning and coffee/tea all day.

The location is right next to the river, a subway line and a tram line, so getting anywhere is simple. Walking distance to the main tourist nightlife area and "ruin bars" is about 10 minutes. Walking to Castle Hill from this hostel is also perfect because the hostel 2 minutes from the main market and you can continue along the river and across the Chain Bridge to get there. Additionally, a great place that brews about fifteen different varieties of their own beer, Élesztő, is just a short walk south-east.

There are two bathrooms, two showers, the hostel only holds about fifteen people so there was never an issue with this. There is an option for laundry, two computers for guest use and a balcony for smoking. They also have a large common area for hanging out, reading, or meeting other guests.

This is a very mellow and friendly place that became the basis for hostels I have been looking for in other cities since.

Room Tip: I stayed in the street side, north-facing six bed dorm at the end of the hall with the showers/bathr...

My husband and I stayed in the Goat Hostel from a Saturday to a Tuesday morning. When we first arrived, we signed in and were told how much we owed (which we had to pay in cash but could pay in either Euros or Hungarian forints). We were given a map and the staff recommended a few restaurants and places to visit. We relied on that map on our trip!

Very nice/accommodating staff. We had a private room. There was a door between us and the next room but it was covered and boarded up pretty well. There was a shared bathroom (separate toilet and shower). Unfortunately, the bathroom was very small though. There was a complimentary breakfast every morning which was cereal and toast with jam. There was also a washing machine and a shared refrigerator that the staff encouraged us to use. In addition, there was a common room with access to computers and internet. In addition, there was free wi-fi.

This is located only a few blocks from the river and is centrally located. It was perfect for my husband and I. If you are traveling with friends or you and your significant other would like a cheaper alternative to a hotel, then I highly recommend staying at the Goat Hostel!

We stayed at Goat Hostel for three nights. The hostel is located close to the old markets which was great for buying our food and cooking in the kitchen. The rooms were large and clean, the common room large and clean, and the breakfast was good. Steve was very helpful in explaining the city and a friendly person to be around. I would recommend this hostel to people wanting a comfortable and friendly place to stay.

Myself and two friends stayed here on a weekend trip to Budapest booked on a whim. It was super central, easy to find, secure, clean and the staff were great. The guy we met on the way in made us a coffee while he sorted out the booking and payment and we were soon off out into Budapest. The people staying ranged from long term and young travelers to older people who were on a trip like we were. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

This place was awesome !!! It was literally just a tiny little hostel with a few rooms in an apartment but this really meant that the owners and staff could give a whole lot more personal attention to their guests than in larger hostels. I would have thought that with such a small place that the atmosphere would be lacking a bit, but this was not the case at all, and it was very easy to meet with all the travellers staying here. The location was really good and I was easily able to see most of the cities major attractions with just a simple stroll out the front door. It was very clean and was decorated in a really cool style, it really felt like a home a home from way and it was of course a great base to explore the amazing city of Budapest !!!

Nice size dorms; I stayed in the largest with a group of University friends and the room was fine and we each had a locker to store our bags.
Two separate showers (one more of a bathroom with toilet also and the other a small shower room) as well as a separate toilet in the hallway.
Toast/ cereal / juice for breakfast is really great; help yourself and plan your day in the kitchen area.
Nice social space/ living room area with big sofa and beanbags - perfect to meet others or if in a large group already (as we were) to chat and share drinks/ snacks.
Very helpful staff; always willing to show you on a map where things are etc. and make you coffee!
In general; good low-cost yet comfortable hostel
