“A good find - and nice service”
Reviewed 11 July 2010

Soho is a chic, modern hotel.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful (both in Hungarian and English), and nothing seemed like too much trouble for them.

The room was nicely decorated, and very modern. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well, even though it was an extremely hot night (the aircon worked just fine).

The bathroom did not have a solid wall, meaning you could see your roommate take a shower if so inclined - so make sure you're good friends if you're going to share a room!

Breakfast was nice, and there was plenty of well-prepared, tasty food. The breakfast room is quite small, and decorated in very bright colours, which grated a little first thing in the morning - but not a significant problem.

Overall well worth considering as it is a nice hotel with good service, and represents good value.

My friend and I stayed in the Soho Hotel for two nights while traveling through Europe. We read some other Trip Advisor reviews and were a bit skeptical, but went with an open mind. The first thing I would say is do not listen to many of the other reviews about this hotel. It is a cute boutique hotel staffed by a group of lovely Hungarians. Rooms were small but comfortable, and I really liked the shower. The hotel is within walking distance (10 minutes or so) to the river, other hotels, and attractions. One tip on nightlife: If you are a clubber, you NEED to go to Ship Yard Island. It is about 20 minutes away from the city center and can be reached by cab. It where the locals go to party. 7 or 8 clubs in one area, and most are open air and all are different themes. Dress to impress, these people are HOT. You will really feel out of place if you don't dress to the nines. Guys: if you have some money to throw around, you will have your pick of the numerous beautiful women there. A bottle of champagne cost about $12! Seriously, go. We met two Hungarian girls that we befriended and ended up taking us around the city the next day. Great hotel, great city, great trip, amazing people.

I was misleaded by the name and thought that the hotel belong to the same chain as the beautiful Soho in BCN. Big disappointment. The couple of plastic chairs, neon lights and cheap big format pictures do not turn a regular three start hotel into a four start boutique hotel...!!

The bad experience started when we arrived to the hotel and they "informed" us that the hotel suffered the same morning some problems with water and some rooms we nut usable. They had to relocate us in another hotel in the city. Our friends that had already checked in told us that they told them simply that the hotel was overbooked.

After short time discussion the receptionist told us that one room had already been fixed and that we could use it. I am surprised that they could dry the water and repaint the room in shuch a short time...

The room had the same cheap looking modern design that the entrance. The room was so small that it was difficult to move around the bed. We thought that we had just got the smallest room, but two other couple of friends lodged at the same time at the hotel had exactly the same room.

The room door has no acoustic isolation what makes that every person walking through the corridor gives you the impression of not being alone in your room.

The breakfast room was so small that we always had to wait until somebody finished their breakfast. And this even though they set all small tables to group six people together to save room. In the breakfast room is hard to move between the tables without disturbing people eating.

I go many times to Budapest per year, and I was never disappointed as this time. I will never come back to this hotel!

this hotel is absolutely fine for a short visit to Budapest; it is in a decent location close to the metro and you can walk to the center through some interesting streets. don't allow the 'boutique' description to conjure up too many romantic images in your head, however it is fairly priced and functional.

room size: as a few reviews have pointed out, cats could not be swung.
however, as a place to recharge before heading out into the city it's more than adequate.

Unless, like us, you want to arrive at 10.45pm only to find that the hotel sold your room to a group booking earlier in the day. This is despite us having pre-paid for 4 nights!

They then offered us a clearly inferior hotel and expected us to accept it. I insisted that the Manager was called at home and said we would only accept a hotel of the same (or better) quality. That's what happened and they paid for a taxi to take us to the new hotel.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with my partner.

Firstly i thought the hotel was a bit of place, but as you see more of the city you will see most things are oddly put togther.

The Hotel itself was very trendy and comfatable, rooms were quite small but plenty of room for the two of us and very nicely decorated.

Easy walking distance to lots of things

Food in this country is fab, out of everywhere i have ever been WOW!!

Bar was a bit pricey but hey its a city !!

Very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It's a very modern looking hotel. Clean, centrally located and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Not to mention very cheap for what you get.

Nothing else to say about it. Two thumbs up!
